In the last installment of this series we saw cars being gathered at West Mill Yard and on the PC/KP&W interchange track in Kings Port for eventual forwarding to Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R. and John's New York Central Train Layout
Today we'll see those cars added to trains headed toward both layouts. Starting with the cut of cars for the A.P.R.R., yard switcher SW9 #8951 is busy putting the string together to be picked up by a Penn Central southbound train to Weehawken.
Cars being forwarded to the APRR's Rock Ridge Yard include empty PRR 86 foot auto parts car #125291...
...and four KP&W boxcars; two for C&P Restaurant Supply and two for Ideal Auto Parts.
The five cars are set out on a siding next to the main for convenient pick up by VW-3 from Selkirk, scheduled to arrive within an hour.
Watch VW-3 arrive at West Mill in the video below:
Watch the three GP38-2s leave the train to pick up the APRR cut in the video below:
Now that the APRR cut has left town its time for a little bit of intra-layout work as #8951 takes the Hoschton Railway Co. RBL to nearby Canton Box Co. where it will be loaded for the next P.C.C.M. series.
Now West Mill can focus on getting cars out to Terminal Yard on the N.Y.C.T.L. Three GP9s are assigned to pull the cars out of West Mill, pick up more at Kings Port, and take them to Selkirk where they will be forwarded to Empire City.
The trio of Geeps backs into their train now designated Extra 7175.
Watch Extra #7175 depart from West Mill with N.Y.C.T.L. cars in tow in the video below:
The Extra reaches Kings Port about an hour later.
Here it will pick up six empty coal hoppers for Hudson Coal to be loaded for RMO Electric...
(They have been separated to avoid blocking Ulster Ave.)
Two coil Evans coil coaches for Gervais Pipe and fittings...
Two 38 foot hoppers for Hudson Coal to be loaded for Corning Glass company...
and PC boxcar #360158 loaded with bagged flour for Hostess.
Extra #7175's crew prepares for the pick ups by cutting the GP9 consist and aligning switches for the three units to access the interchange tracks.
Watch the first moves involved in this pick up in the video below:
The cars have been pulled out of the interchange and then pushed together as one string. The locomotives return to their cars from West Mill and then pull them forward to pick up the cut from the interchange....
Watch the action in the video below as the West Mill part of the train moves ahead to pick up the Kings Port cut:
The caboose is uncoupled for the last moves to pick up the Kings Port string of cars
Backing toward the Kings Port cut..
Watch the train be fully assembled and head out of Kings Port for Selkirk in the video below:
The manifest on this train includes:
