Yard work after the arrival of VWM-8

After the arrival of VWM-8,  Yard Switcher #8951 was called to assemble The Kings Port Turn, the Mayfield Transfer, and a short Grain Job.

Thanks to thoughtful blocking at Terminal Yard, these cars for the team track and Williams Yard in Kings Port are already conveniently coupled together to be part of the Kings Port Turn.

As are these PC hoppers to be routed to KP Steel.

The Kings Port Turn is essentially already assembled except for:

This pair of TOFCs that are going to the Williams Yard facility...

...and this pair of covered hoppers, sitting in the middle of cars for Kings Port, that will be delivered short to Empire Grain.

Switcher #8951 pulls the string of cars for Mayfield on Track 3 to get the TOFCs out of the hole.

The flats cars are coupled to the Kings Port Turn cars (led by the hoppers for KP Steel) and are pushed into Track 4

The cars for Mayfield led by the NYC double door 50 foot boxcars and ended by the PC 60 foot auto parts car are returned to Track 3.

The Kings Port Turn string is pulled to access the two grain cars and is cut at the NYC covered hopper.

The two covered hoppers are set out by themselves on Track 5, next to the carfloat.

...and the Kings Port Turn cars are reunited on Track 4.

These cars headed for Kings Port as part of the Turn are not from VWM-8.

Each track now has a ready made train; The Mayfield Transfer on Track 3, The Kings Port Turn on Track 4, and the short Grain Job on Track 5

Note:  Peerless Appliance does not have the capacity to receive all scheduled cars in one shipment.  The three NYC double door 50 ft boxcars currently coupled to the Mayfield Transfer will be held until requested.   The KP&W's Mayfield to West Mill run is expected tomorrow and will pick up the Mayfield Transfer cars from West Mill.

  1. Nice job showcasing some West Mill yard work! The yard crew looks like they assembled all the outbound trains in a very timely fashion. Word on the street is that Cappy Foster can crack the whip when needed! Another enjoyable entry from the K.P.D.!!
