P.C.C.M. 60 5th KPD post: cars start getting delievered.

Greetings blog followers!

Its time for the Kings Port & Western RR and the Penn Central to deliver the cars that came onto the Kings Port Division this series.

Starting with the six loaded coal hoppers and two loads of ore for KP Steel from the N.Y.C.T.L.,  KP&W SD9 #897 gets the call to shove the cars from Williams Yard into KP Steel's receiving tracks.

The string of hopper cars for The Steel Job can be seen on the farthest track in the background

#897 notches up and starts the cars moving toward KP Steel

As the Steel Job leaves Williams Yard, nearby Ulster Ave is well protected by KP&W employees.

The train emerges from the overpass near the Williams Yard entrance, taking it slowly as it approaches Ulster Ave.

Arriving at KP Steel's receiving yard to make the set outs.

Watch The Steel Job deliver the hoppers and then pull cars from KP Steel in the two videos below:

Shortly after the return of the Steel Job a Single Car Delivery is arranged for P&E  #3638, loaded with milling machinery for Blue Ribbon Flour from Reliable Machine.  Venerable Baldwin S-12 switcher #34 will handle the assignment.

Leaving Williams Yard for the short trip to access the industrial lead to Blue Ribbon Flour

Backing into the industrial lead....

...and approaching the lower level loading dock for Blue Ribbon Flour just beyond the overpass.

The car is set out at Blue Ribbon, completing Williams Yard's involvement in this P.C.C.M. series.

Switching over now to the Penn Central at West Mill, the yard switcher couples three cars headed out for a short run.
The HRC car is the one that was a target for wine theft the other night but is happily intact and all its vintage secure.  It will be set out at Reynolds Beverage Distributors.

The former NYC Early Bird car is loaded with steel wool from Walsh Steel Wool for Booms Ready mix which shares the spur with Reynolds Beverage Distributors.

The 40 foot PC car making up the trio is a non-virtual ops car that will be dropped off at the Team Track right next to Reynolds Beverage Distributors.  Its loaded with parts for LaRoche Cycle which uses the Team Track for deliveries and then trucks them to their factory nearby.   The cars await assignment of a locomotive and crew.

Meanwhile the switcher turns it attention to sorting cars for interchange with the KP&W.  These two orange boxcars are being forwarded to Peerless Appliance where they will be loaded with kitchen appliances for Neal's Three Amigos Warehouse.

The two KP&W boxcars are coupled up with some non-virtual ops cars for a run to Mayfield Yard.

The cut reflects the KP&W's connections with both the LV and B&M.

The string of cars for Mayfield is pulled out of West Mill Yard...

...and placed on this track to expedite an exchange of cars with a KP&W train scheduled for later today.

The last bits of yard work with outgoing freight cars include assembling this short train for the KP&W's Mountain Branch to Bloomberg area industries.  The PC 50' boxcar is loaded with printed labels for VanWinkle Canning provided by Berk Enterprises.   The two B&M RBLs hold cabinets for Zenith TV from University Millwork.

Two non-virtual ops covered hoppers will be riding along to be set out at Bloomberg's Agway.

The switcher's final task is to isolate these three NYC 50 foot double door cars loaded with cable, wire harnesses, and other electrical components from Bruce Electrical supply for IBM in Binghamton, along the KP&W route to Salamanca NY.

To avoid making this post too long I'll stop here but will pick it up tomorrow as Penn Central and KP&W trains set out to deliver their cars.

Thanks for following along!

Coal hoppers and clam shells, these are a few of my favorite things!! The ol 897 did a fine job and did the crew on that shove move from Williams Yard to KP Steel. Nice seeing venerable #34 in action. I've always liked the Baldwin switchers.
