Hello everyone!
Last weekend our three-layout virtual operations, that we call Penn Central Car Movements, focused on outbound trains dispatched from John's New York Central Train Layout , Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R , and my own Kings Port Division. This weekend we're noting trains arriving on our respective layouts and following freight cars to their scheduled destinations at our various industries and businesses.
Starting at Kings Port, we find Kings Port & Western GP9 #769 idling while waiting for a Penn Central coal train from Selkirk.
The coal train originated at John's Terminal Yard as Unit Coal Train UAN-2 to Selkirk. It is seen below leaving the N.Y.C.T.L. with heavy power pulling a long string of loaded hoppers.
After the train reached Selkirk these two 38 foot hoppers were cut and placed on a manifest freight for West Mill. The train was dispatched with new power to Kings Port as Extra #1802. It stopped at Ravena on its way South to drop off a large cut of cars for Atlas Cement.
Watch what remains of the original unit coal train arrive at Kings Port as Extra #1802 with an oddball F7A/ U33C lashup. Over the years I've become accustomed to the Penn Central's eclectic mix of consists but hadn't encountered an F unit/ U Boat combo like this until seeing a recent prototype photo John sent me.
After the train stops, its NYC caboose is cut and left next to KP&W 769. The PC conductor and the KP&W engineer confer on the next move. The string of cars has been pulled far enough for the KP&W Geep to get behind them for the shove to KP Steel.
The coal train's consist uncouples from the train and makes room for the coal cars to be pushed into KP Steel's holding yard.
Watch KP&W #769 deliver the hoppers to the steel complex in the video below:
After the string of hoppers enters KP Steel the U33C/F7A combo backs up, runs around its caboose, and couples up to run light for the trip back to Selkirk
An hour later, the Kings Port Railfan Society's famous Blue Bug pulls up to the Ulster Ave. crossing. Seems they got word of another train from Selkirk arriving soon.
Parking at Dave's Diner to get a good vantage point, they take pains to not interfere with the crossing signal. A previous incident of parking too close brought them to the attention of KPPD.
TC, Fancy, Chooch, and Benny climb out of the small car and wait for the action.
Watch with the KPRS guys as manifest freight Extra #2228 from Selkirk arrives at Kings Port powered by a GP30 and two F7B units.
Watch the train back a long cut of cars for the KP&W onto the interchange
After setting out the cars for the KP&W, Extra 2228's power picks up P&E boxcar #3638 which is empty for Port Owen Brick Co.
The train, now fully assembled for West Mill, heads out of town.
That's enough for today! Check back tomorrow to see Extra #2228 arrive at West Mill. A train from Weehawken with cars sent by Neal's A.P.R.R. is also scheduled to arrive!

Nice start to the inbound! I thought when KP&W 769 started the shove on the coal hoppers they would come off the tracks! The sound effect you have made that very real! Nice to see the KPRS crew out and about. Hope they learned their lesson!
I know! Th KP&W engineer on that Geep was pretty careless with his speed. Seems like it al went well though as cars were successfully delivered to KP Steel. The KPRS are trying to stay out of trouble!

Nicely done Ralph!!! The prototypical Penn Central consists were excellent and I was happy to see you were able to get that U-Boat / F7A consist into the action. KPRS were Benny on the Spot today! That excavator on the PC flat makes for an eye catching load! Videos were again top notch along with their sound quality.
Thanks John! I've been waiting for the chance to publish the U Boat/F7 consist ever since you showed me that photo.
