P.C.C.M. 83: Part 6 on the KPD

 Hi again!

This is my Kings Port Division's final installment of the latest virtual ops with John's New York Central Train Layout, and Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R. in Penn Central Car Movement #83!

Only three virtual ops cars remain to be forwarded from West Mill:  A Hoschton Railway Co. 40' boxcar loaded with C&P restaurant supplies for Battaglia Bros. Warehouse...

...the NYC double door 50 foot boxcar for Half Moon Wholesale Lumber Distributors...

and BAR #5226, empty and ready to head back to Maine.

Things get busy at West Mill as the daily KP&W transfer arrives in the late morning and drops off several (non-player) cars.

Yard switcher #8951 gets to work sorting them into blocks...

...starting by assembling a cut for Half Moon Wholesale Lumber

This cut includes the "virtual ops" NYC double door boxcar.

Next, the Yard's SW9 places the black Hoschton car in a block that will become the next Kings Port Turn

And finally, the busy switcher tacks the BAR car to a string of B&M boxcars that will eventually be forwarded to Mechanicville for a trip to New England.

After the cars have been sorted into their blocks, the Kings Port Turn prepares to leave with the Hoschton car.

Watch the Kings Port Turn leave West Mill in the video below:

The Kings Port Turn later reaches Kings Port ...

...and sets out the Hoschton car at Battaglia Bros. Warehouse.

Meanwhile back at West Mill,  after the Kings Port Turn departed,  Southbound local (Extra 5688) backs out of the yard to head to Half Moon Whole Sale Lumber Distributors with the NYC double door boxcar and three non-player cars.  Traffic to Half Moon is becoming more frequent and is starting to require short trains just for this business.  The Yard Crew is already starting to refer to it as the "Lumber Job".

WM Tower provides the Southbound Local's paper work before it pulls forward to head out of town.

After a fifteen mile trip the cars are dropped off at the lumber company.

The final car movement of the series is to send the BAR car on its way north.  Switcher #8951 pulls the cut of cars for Mechanicville and places it on a siding for the next train heading to Selkirk.

Watch #8951 set out the cut for WV-2 in the video below:

Penn Central train WV-2 from Weehawken to Selkirk, with a pair of six axle U Boats at the point, arrives a couple of hours later and picks up the cut for New England.

After coupling the New England cut to the rest of the train...

...WV-2 moves on to Selkirk!

After arriving at Selkirk the New England block with BAR #5226 is cut from the train and put on a transfer run to Mechanicville.  From here it will be added to a train to East Deerfield, MA for the next part of the BAR car's journey home.

Oh...for those of you that noticed caboose # 23155 had a wheel off the rails in the background of some of the videos but were polite enough not to say anything, the West Mill crew finally got around to re-railing it!   :)

And that concludes the Kings Port Division's part in P.C.C.M. 83!   Thanks for following along!

P.C.C.M. 83: Part 5 onthe KPD

 Greetings!

If you've been following along with us on this 83rd virtual ops series with John's New York Central Train Layout and Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R. and my Kings Port Division, you'll know that the Penn Central's Mayfield Transfer was just dispatched from West Mill and that the Kings Port & Western's "Wibi" is on its way to Binghamton.

Reviewing the Mayfield Transfer's manifest we see PC depressed well flat #766053, gon #288673, and PC boxcar #104478 (camera shy but caught a little bit in the left of the second photo) all heading empty to Amalgamated Container Co.

The newest addition to the virtual ops, the 50 EL boxcar, loaded with food products along with KP&W #644450 & 644455 similarly loaded for Cavendish Fine Foods and Spirits,

APRR hoppers for the LV Coal Connection

PC/TOC  #350562,  KP&W #50335,  and NYC #53051  all empty for ACME auto parts....

...and NYC #80755 loaded with appliance parts from Reliable Machine, and P&LE #35892 full of bulk hardware from American Hardware, both for Peerless Appliance.

The transfer reaches Mayfield an hour later.

All of its cars are put on a local to be dispatched later this afternoon except for the two APRR hoppers which are tacked onto a train for the Lehigh Valley.

The Mayfield local heads out to serve ACME Auto Parts....

...Amalgamated Container (ACCO)....

...Cavendish Foods and Spirits...

...and Peerless Appliance...

Remember the WiBi leaving West Mill the other day? It arrived in Binghamton and its cars were put on a local train.

Deliveries to IBM include EBRR #360279 loaded with copy machine parts from Reliable Machine and RI # 35062 loaded with bulk hardware from American Hardware.

Corning NAHX #90401, loaded with silica sand, is set out at its home company Corning Glass Co.

Returning now to West Mill Yard, the Bloomberg Turn (WMB-1) is about to depart.  Caboose #23155 has been tacked onto the rear.

The long string for Bloomberg includes cars for Zenith TV...

...Quality Fabrications, Van Winkle Canning, and Woodstock Hills Natural Soda.

This unusually long train for the Bloomberg Branch will powered by three Geeps to handle the steep grades up the Catskills.

Watch the train leave in the video below:

After accomplishing the climb to Bloomberg the train first works Zenith TV, setting out five cars.  The three B&M cars are loaded with cabinets from Yankee Veneer.

The two NYC double door boxcars are empty to receive TVs for B. Gertz Warehouse in Jamaica, NY.

PC plug door boxcar #360158 is loaded with more cabinets from University Millwork.

After the set outs at Zenith are completed four cars are delivered to Quality Fabrications.  KP&W 30112 & 30115 are empty for catalytic convertor assemblies for Ford.   The aging former Pacemaker is empty to receive sewing machine and wire twisting machine parts for Moore & Co.

GM&O # 21129 is loaded with oil drums of machine lubricant.

The Bloomberg Turn then heads over to Van Winkle Canning where it drops off TP&W #627 loaded with printed labels from Berk Enterprises.  IC #30130 is empty for soda for Ralph's Grocery warehouse.

That concludes the work of the Bloomberg Turn for the virtual ops!   Stay tuned tomorrow for the final KPD installment of the series as we tie up loose ends with three remaining cars!
