Continuing our three layout virtual op, the KP&W and B&O have taken Unit coal Train URN-3 out of West Mill, but several coal hoppers have been cut from the train and are now being routed to Weehawken as Extra #6554.
A caboose switch was made on URN-3, pulling PC caboose #24520 from the train. It is now being tacked onto the end of Extra #6554.
The caboose coupled onto the Extra, the yard switcher pulls away.
The train stretches the length of West Mill Yard.
The signal tower finally shows all green. Extra #6554 is given the order to proceed to Weehawken.
The three PC cars and the following four PRR hoppers are headed to the A.P.R.R.
The train leaves West Mill...
That's it for West Mill's involvement with the unit coal train. Follow the action on Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad blog.

Rock Ridge Yard Out!
Nice handoff to the APRR. Looking forward to seeing the action continue on Neal's layout. Just a note of curiosity? Where did the LS&W hoppers come from? Great virtual ops segment, always a pleasure to see the KP&W in action.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian!
DeleteOh! The LS&W hoppers are for the freelanced Lehigh, Susquehanna & Western RR which was developed by a member of a forum I participate in. Unfortunately he passed away so some members got together and had some decals printed for members to purchase and create cars in his honor.
DeleteThank you Ralph for the info on the LS&W hoppers. A fitting tribute! I agree with John B. great looking scrap loads in your gondolas, I'll have to try your technique.
DeleteI really like the scrap loads in the gons in the first photo. How did you do them?
ReplyDeleteThanks John! The are made from pencil shavings I took from a sharpener, glued to a foam base like ballast, and spray painted silver.
