P.C.C.M. 61, 6th installment: Locals out of Williams Yard

Hello again!

All cars dispatched to the Kings Port Division this series from...

John's layout
Neal's layout
and Brian's layout

...have arrived on the  Kings Port Division and it is now time for cars to be forwarded to their consignees.  We'll start by taking a look at the KP&W's Williams Yard where switcher crews have sorted cars for two locals.

The depressed well flat car with the prime mover load will be delivered to the engine yard along with a KP&W PS-2 covered hopper that is loaded with locomotive sand from T&R Gravel.  The four Evans Bread Box Trough coil cars and the two gons of scrap are heading to KP Steel.

The Cargill hopper is consigned to Blue Ribbon Flour and the red GM&O car has a load of steel wool products for Battaglia Bros Warehouse.

Meanwhile the three TOFCs sent from Terminal Yard are being off loaded.

The prime mover from Terminal Yard is for KP&W GP9 #742 which suffered mechanical problems as it limped intoWilliams Yard with a transfer run last week.

The ailing Geep was later deadheaded to the engine yard.

Help is on the way as a small shove leaves Williams Yard for the engine yard.

A brakeman rides the sand hopper to protect the shove as it crosses Ulster Ave.

The sand hopper is set out to load the sand towers.

...and the depressed well flat moves toward the KP&W/PC shops

The new prime mover is set in the shop so repairs can begin to get #742 back on the road. Don't worry about that guy on the ground!

Meanwhile, back at Williams Yard, cars have been arranged in front and behind another KP&W Geep to facilitate easy delivery to Battaglia Bros Warehouse, Blue Ribbon Flour, and KP Steel.

The "Steel Job" shove to KP Steel is protected by KP&W crewmen at Ulster Ave.

The GP9 emerges from the entrance to Williams Yard with cars in front and behind. The coil cars and the two gons of scrap in front are for KP Steel...

...while the TDLX Cargill car is for Blue Ribbon Flour and the red GM&O car is loaded with Walsh Steel Wool products to be stored at Battaglia Bros. Warehouse.

The train stops behind a turnout that accesses an industrial spur to Battaglia Bros. and Blue Ribbon...

...and reverses to push the cars for Battaglia Bros and Blue Ribbon.

...while the cut for KP Steel waits in the background.

Setting out the cars at lower level docks for both businesses.

Blue Ribbon Flour

Battaglia Bros. Warehouse

Geep #769 returns to the KP Steel cut...

..and sets out the coil cars in KP Steel's holding yard.

It then pushes the two gons of scrap into the unloading shed near the Basic Oxygen Furnace.

After dropping off the cars consigned to KP Steel GP9 #769 pulls a few cars to take back to Williams Yard.

That concludes Williams Yard's involvement in this series.  Stay tuned as West Mill moves cars out to their customers.

Acknowledge KP&W delivering of freight cars to Battaglia Bros, Blue Ribbon Flour and Kings Port Steel.

    Terminal Yard out...

Nice job Ralph!!! KP&W running like a finely tuned EMD! Did that guy fall or was he pushed? Nice showcase of the KP&W fleet. KP&W 22, 24, 34, 110, 160, 742, and 769 all get into the mix! Very impressive!

I am still amazed with your steel works and scrap yard area, very impressive. The KP&W fleet had a good workout today. I hope the folks at Battaglia Bros. take care of the crew of the KP&W!
