P.C,C.M. 74: Post 6 from the KPD

Greetings all!

Its been a busy and fun series with so many cars being moved by John's New York Central Train Layout , Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R. , and my King Port Division!

When we last visited West Mill the KP&W's "WiBi had stopped to pick up three Penn Central RBLs.  The train has since arrived at Binghamton and cars were sorted into local trains that served Corning Glass Co. by dropping off the Corning covered hopper loaded with silica sand and the two 38 foot coal hoppers from Hudson Coal seen in the background.

A local run in Binghamton to IBM set out the PC RBls loaded with crates from Mike's Lumber and NYC Hi Cube #173861 loaded with wire and cables from Bruce Electric

Turning back to West Mill now we see  string of cars assembled in the yard for the Bloomberg Run.  The two KP&W cars #30112 and 30115 are empty for Zenith TV.

TP&W #627 is loaded with Berk Enterprises labels for Van Winkle Canning, and the old Pacemaker is carrying Drywell Co. ink for the Catskill Mountain Press.

SW9 #8951 tacks a caboose on the Bloomberg cut and then pulls the cars out for their locomotives.

Watch the SW9 pull the Bloomberg Run out of the yard in the video below:

The cars wait for the usual GP35/ GP20 lashup for the run up the Catskill mountains.

Watch the GP35/ GP20 leave the engine track and head for the train in the video below:

The train is poised to leave after a brief confab with WM Tower.

Watch the Bloomberg Run leave West Mill in the video below:

After reaching Bloomberg's industrial parks the TP&W car is set out at Van Winkle Canning and the Pacemaker is left with Catskill Mountain Press, where it is being unloaded in the parking lot due to a lack of a rail side loading bay.

Moving on to Zenith TVs, the two KP&W empties are set out for the television manufacturer, concluding the Bloomberg Run's jobs.

Back at West Mill a pair of six axle Alco RSD12s waits to haul a transfer run to the KP&W's Mayfield Yard to be put together.

The train includes two KP&W ribbed boxcars #644450 and 644455 loaded with food stuffs for Cavendish Foods...

..and a string of empty hoppers recently pulled from the car float that will be forwarded to the KP&W's Lehigh Valley coal connection.

The old reliable yard switcher shoves caboose and cars into the twin RSD12 consist.

Watch the Mayfield Transfer back out of the yard in the video below:

Watch the Mayfield Transfer leave West Mill in the video below:

The transfer to Mayfield leaves Kings Port.

Later, after cars are sorted at Mayfield Yard, a KP&W local sets cars out at Cavendish Foods.

That officially concludes the Kings Port Divisions participation in our 74th virtual ops!  It was an active series with multiple trains and car movements...and news of the 50th anniversary of the Penn Central bankruptcy, a sad occasion to note but an interesting part of history.  Meanwhile Penn Central railroading continues here!  Thanks for following along!

P.C.C.M. 74: Post 5

Hello!

All cars sent by John's New York Central Train Layout  and Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R.  to the Kings Port Division this series have arrived and are now being sorted into trains for their delivery to consignees.   There is a lot of car forwarding this time around both at West Mill and Williams Yard.

Starting over at Kings Port, S12 switcher #34 got the call to take care of cars left by the Penn Central on the interchange.   Passing by the NYC Hi-Cube which will be pulled into Williams Yard and the P&E boxcar that is destined for nearby Blue Ribbon Flour...

...the loco switches tracks to access cars left for KP Steel,

...Two empty coil cars that are to be loaded with coils for Gervais Pipe and Fittings...

...and two gons of scrap from Terminal Yard for the Basic Oxygen Furnace.

Watch the delivery to KP Steel in the video below

The covered hopper and two 38 ft. coal hoppers for Corning Glass Co. will be pulled into Williams Yard for later transfer to Binghamton by the KP&W's "WiBi"  (Williams Yard to Binghamton).

Watch the action in the video below:

P&E boxcar #3638 is loaded with machine parts from Reliable Machine for Blue Ribbon Flour's efforts to modernize the mill.

Watch the set out for Blue Ribbon in the video below:

After setting out P&E #3638, the rest of the interchange cut is shoved into Williams Yard.

Meanwhile, over at West Mill, SW9 #8951 is busy assembling a Southbound Turn that will serve new customer Half Moon Wholesale Lumber.

Shoving a caboose and cars toward the waiting loco.

GP9 #7085, still wearing its Pennsy colors, will take responsibility for the short train

After assisting with the Southbound Turn, SW9 #8951 pulls a trio of Penn Central RBLs loaded with crates from Mike's Lumber for IBM in Binghamton.  These cars will be set on a siding for easy pick up by today's "WiBi" from Williams Yard

After the PC RBLs have cleared, the Southbound Turn leaves West Mill Yard in the video below:

Stopping at WM Tower for orders prior to departing.

Watch the Southbound Turn leave town in the video below:

The Southbound Turn 's only work is to set out three cars at Half Moon Wholesale Lumber; two bulkhead flats of saw logs from Brookhaven and a "non-player" KP&W car.

The short job completed, GP9 #7085 returns home with its caboose

The next train out of West Mill is the Northbound Turn that will serve Reynolds Beverage Distributors, Hedberg Aggregates, and Sal's Salvage.

More First Generation Geeps at work today as GP7 #5688 and GP9 #7175 get the call for this train!

Watch the Northbound Turn leave West Mill, arrive at Kings Port, and hold for the KP&W's Wibi-3 to Binghamton in the video below.  Note the KP&W/ B&M pooled power on this train!

The Wibi is carrying virtual ops cars for IBM and Corning Glass Co. among its other non-player cars.  After it leaves Kings Port the Northbound Turn sets out the attractive black and orange Hoschton Railway Co. boxcar full of Heilemans Beer at Reynolds Beverage Distributors and continues on its way.

As the Turn heads to Hedberg Aggregates in Marion the KP&W's WiBi-3 arrives at West Mill

The train stops to pick up the three Penn Central RBLs that were set out earlier.  The B&M unit in the lashup was "borrowed" by the KP&W at Williams Yard and will run to Binghamton.  After that it will be tacked on a train to Mechanicville and return to B&M territory from there on a run to New England.

Watch the WiBi leave West Mill with the three PC cars in tow:

As the KP&W train for Binghamton leaves West Mill the next stop for the Penn Central's Northbound Turn is Hedberg Aggregates where it spots PC boxcar #77047 loaded with large burlap bags from Moore & Co. along with two PS-2 covered hoppers as an intra-layout move.  These cars will be loaded for Lombo Concrete in the next P.C.C.M.

The Turn works its way back to West Mill and completes its work by setting out two gons of scap from Gershow for Sal's Salvage.

Watch the Turn return to West Mill in the video below:

The caboose is cut so the two gons of scrap from Gershow can be set out at Sal's metal shredder.

Watch the gons get set out below:

After setting out the two gons, the Geeps tie up at the engine track, ending the shift and this long installment!

Stay tuned for tomorrow when cars will be delivered to Corning Glass and IBM, and the Bloomberg Branch train and Mayfield Transfer will be dispatched from West Mill to complete delivery of all cars sent to the KPD this series!  Phew!
