Greetings one more time!
This is the final installment from the KPD in our 77th virtual ops series. It has been a fun one!
Before getting started, a couple of corrections from yesterday's post: KP&W boxcars #30112 and 30115 are actually being loaded at Quality Fabrications with catalytic converter assemblies for Ideal Auto Parts, not Ford...
...and PC # 160502, spotted at IBM, was loaded with bulk hardware from American Hardware Supply in Bedford Park not Rock Ridge.
West Mill Yard wishes to blame these errors either on dirty ACI scanners or overworked clerks!
Today, as the Yard Office strives for accuracy, we are at West Mill as a transfer run to the Kings Port & Western's Mayfield Yard is preparing to depart.
Cars on this train include red GM&O #21129 loaded with cable harnesses and electrical controls from Bruce Electric for Peerless Appliance, empty 60 foot NYC #53051 for ACME Auto Parts,
...empty auto parts cars KP&W #50335 and PC/TOC #350562 also for ACME Auto Parts.
...PC depressed well flatcar #766053 and two NYC double door boxcars for Peerless Appliance. Why the red GM&O car wasn't coupled next to these is a question Yardmaster Cappy foster will be asking! Oh well, its actually the KP&W's problem to sort once the train arrives at Mayfield so Cappy isn't too concerned.
EBRR drop end mill gon #509823 is heading empty to Amalgamated Container
BAR #5226 is loaded with imported tea from Neubaums for Cavendish Foods. The Swift reefer is full of frozen meat for Cavendish as well.
Watch the GP30/GP20 lashup roll past the train to get to the head end in the video below:
This consist is usually assigned to the Bloomberg Run but West Mill wants to try it on the Mayfield Transfer this time.
Watch the train back out of West Mill Yard in the video below:
The Transfer waits for a short MOW train to pass before heading out.
Watch the Mayfield Transfer leave West Mill in the video below:
The Mayfield Transfer arrives at Mayfield Yard.
It meets an LV train of empty coal hoppers headed for the Lehigh Valley's mining region.
The cars are sorted into The Mayfield Local that first stops at ACME Auto Parts to set out three larger freight cars. I'm often asked if ACME supplies parts for the Pontiac Roadrunner. Wile E. coyote would know! :)
After working ACME the local moves on to Peerless Appliance and sets out four cars. The depressed well flatcar is spotted under the crane by the large loading door for an oversize air conditioning unit.
The two NYC boxcars were forwarded empty from Battaglia Brothers Warehouse, another intra-layout move.
The next stop is Cavendish Foods where the Swift Reefer and BAR car are set out. Steak and Kidney Pie TV dinners, anyone?
The Mayfield Local's last stop is Amalgamated Container (ACCO) where it sets out the EBBR drop end mill gon to load with storage tanks for West Chemical. Guaranteed not to leak..we hope!
That officially concludes the KPD's role in this series! Thanks for watching and please remember to follow the fun action on John's New York Central Train Layout and Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR
