P.C.C.M. 77: Part 5 on the KPD

 Hi again!

Yesterday we followed  train from Selkirk with cars that was originally dispatched from John's New York Central Train Layout . It dropped several cars off at the KP&W interchange track at Kings Port.

We'll watch as the Kings Port & Western pulls them into Williams Yard and then turn our attention to West Mill where a Penn Central freight will bring cars in from Neal's  Atlantic Pacific RR  .

First lets look at the interchange in Kings Port.   Here are the cars that were left behind by PC Extra #8150 yesterday.

They were split into two groups to avoid blocking Ulster Ave.

SW9s #22 and 24 get the call to bring the cars in.

Two KP&W crewmen board the idling units for the trip outside of the yard.

Watch as the pair of switchers leaves the yard, picks up the cars and brings them into the yard limits in the video below:

The cars are quickly sorted.  Cars blocked for the next "WiBi" to Binghamton include PS2 covered hoppers PC #883190 and KP&W #445052, both loaded with silica sand for Corning Glass Co....

LV boxcar #8247 being returned empty from Ford for Flint, MI and PC #160502 loaded with bulk hardware from American Hardware (for IBM in Binghamton) will join them on the WiBi.

LV (NIRX) #41000 is loaded with printed cartons from Berk Enterprises for Blue Ribbon Flour , and PC #360158 is full of furniture from Superior Furniture for Battaglia Brothers Warehouse, both local industries.

PC gon #288763, loaded with pipes for the Hudson Valley Ag Coop, is set out at a ramp for unloading.

Two Southern RR bulkhead flats with Caterpillar heavy equipment, also for HVAC, are  being unloaded.

Now that cars have been sorted some will be dispatched later on outgoing trains.  For now, let's head over to West Mill as train WV-2 from Weehawken has arrived with cars it picked up from the APRR.

KP&W 64450 and 644455 are loaded with hardware from American Hardware Rick Ridge for Quality Fabrications.

NYC double door boxcar # 47062 carries steel bands from Shapeless Steel for Port Owen Brick Co.  KP&W 30112 and 30115 are empty for Quality Fabrications.

The NYC covered hopper is empty  for Blue Ribbon Flour.

The cut of cars set out by WV-2  is left on a siding for West Mil Yard.

Switcher #8951 is called to bring them in.

Watch another SW9 show as #8951 moves out to  pull the cars into the yard.

West Mill yard is filling up!

Yardmaster Cappy foster, chomping an unlit cigar is barking out orders from the tower to get trains moving!

Tomorrow we'll see trains dispatched to deliver all of these cars to their respective consignees!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

SW9 action on the railroad abounds. I hope Cappy Foster appreciates these engines as they truly do the job. I like the way your KP&W SW9 engines move those freight cars, very enjoyable to watch…

    Terminal Yard out...

It was definitely Switcher Saturday on the KPD and KP&W!!! Both sets of train movements were excellent. The 8951 pulling the string of WV-2 cars out of the yard past Sal's and under Gern is one of my all time favorite train moves. It was that well done! Great job getting everything sorted and ready.

  3. Thanks John! Switcher Saturday! I like that. NYC #8951 was a train show purchase for $20 a few years ago. One of the best hobby values I ever had! Ever since West Mil Yard expanded, pulling cars into the yard by going past Sal's and under GERN has become a standard approach. I like the way it looks too.
