Hi everyone!
We're back with more posts for our 85th Penn Central Car Movements series, also known as the "virtual ops" in which we photograph and film trains on our layouts to create the impression they have traveled from one layout to the next over thousands of miles!
John's New York Central Train Layout, Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R., and my own Kings Port Division are the three layouts involved in this enterprise. Follow the action on each blog!
On the Kings Port Division, its the next day after the previous post and another daily BiWi drops off more cars. Our photographer missed covering the action except for catching a quick shot of the train's caboose as it pulled out of West
Mill.
Today's BiWi left four cars for West Mill including KP&W #30112 and #30115 from Quality Fabrications loaded with catalytic converter assemblies for Ideal Auto Parts and Empire Belt #360279 from International Paper loaded with bulk paper for Marcal Paper.
Corning covered hopper NAHX #90404 empty for West Hills Silica Sand should have arrived on yesterday's BiWi but was delayed by a coupler repair in Binghamton.
While three of the cars will be left for the next Selkirk-to- Weehawken train to pick them up, the yard's SW9 #8951 will head out to pull the Corning covered hopper. It will also bring out a NYC 50 foot double door boxcar that is also destined for the APRR to the short string. This car is being forwarded from Half Moon Wholesale Lumber Distributors with wood for Mike's Lumber.
Tacking the NYC car to the APPR cut...
Watch the SW9 pull the Corning car into West Mill while a KP&W RDC runs from Mayfield to Kings Port's Williams Yard. Many of the passengers are Kings Port & Western employees heading for their next assignments
Now that West Mill Yard has received all the cars scheduled to be forwarded to the NYCTL and APRR, the switcher gets to work blocking cars for outgoing trains.
Watch the switcher assemble the train for the NYCTL in the video below:
Now that a train has been assembled for the NYCTL the power, an FP7, F7A, F7B consist backs onto it and the crew begins testing air and connections.
The engineer and fireman are seen boarding the lead unit after getting a ride from a West Mill crewman.
We'll see the train leave in tomorrow's installment! Thanks for following along!

A very nice follow up to yesterday's post!! The NYCTL isn't the only layout with an RDC!! Always nice yo see the KP&W RDC in action. Good to see the BiWi again bringing cars to West Mill. Nice work by the carmen to make that timely coupler repair for the Corning covered hopper to be included in PCCM 85! The 8951 continues to be the workhorse of West Mill!! River front scenes look great. Nice touch including the train crew reporting to their train and a very well done Penn Central FP7-F7A-F7B motive power consist. It scream Penn Central! Well done Ralph!!!

The meet with both RDC car and switcher at the crossing was great! RDC cars are impressive. Rumor has it the APRR is looking for some RDC cars since there have been many more folks moving to the area. Nice watching #8951 building those trains to head out. The AP appreciates the blocking of cars that will head to Weehawken
