Hello everybody,
We're continuing out "inbound" portions of this 85th Penn Central Car Movement series, our so called "virtual ops" between layouts over a 1000 miles apart. John's New York Central Train Layout , and Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R. , both sent trains to my Kings Port Division. Now its time to forward the cars on those trains to their respective consignees.
Our Rail Traffic Management Form that serves as the freight traffic generator for our operations provides a lot of variety from PCCM to PCCM series. While there are usually a number of cars going to Mayfield Yard for the KP&W to deliver to local industries, only two "virtual ops " cars are heading there this time. They include KP&W boxcar #15638 which is loaded with rivets and hardware fixtures for Amalgamated Container Co. and PC Hi Cube #272747 loaded with bulk hardware for Peerless Appliance.
I've included three additional non-player cars to make the trip to
Mayfield worthwhile.
These cars are waiting for the next KP&W Mayfield Transfer to arrive at West Mill for one of its typical car exchange moves. The "MT" can be seen arriving off the Mayfield Branch below. LV GP9 #300 is a new addition to the locomotive roster on the KPD. The King Port & Western connects with the Lehigh Valley in Mayfield. Sometimes LV units are pooled with KP&W locomotives for runs like this.
Watch The "MT" arrive with its rumbling Alco RS3 on the point, back its cars into West Mill Yard, tack their caboose on the rear of the cut of cars to take back to Mayfield, and then roll out of the yard.
After pulling the cars out of the yard the consist does a runaround move putting LV #300 in the lead for the return trip to Mayfield.
Listen to the GP9's whine as the train leaves West Mill in the video below.
After arriving at Mayfield the two virtual ops cars are put on a local that sets them out at Amalgamated Container Co. and Peerless Appliance.
Returning now to West Mill Yard, a transfer run to the KP&W's Williams Yard is being assembled.
The virtual ops cars on this train include EBRR gondola #509823 loaded with pipes from Shapless Steel for the Hudson Valley Ag Coop and NYC covered hopper #892010 loaded with wheat flour from Cargill (Rock Ridge) for Blue Ribbon Flour.
The train includes some non-player cars headed for Williams Yard.
Watch the power for the West Mill Transfer, a pair of RSD12s, leave the engine facilities and couple up to their train in the video below:
Watch the Transfer to Williams Yard leave West Mill in the video below:
While the Transfer travels to Kings Port, Switcher #8951 pulls a cut of cars for the next KP&W WiBi to Binghamton. All four of these cars are headed to IBM. The NYC Hi Cube at the far end is loaded with hardware for American Hardware (Rock Ridge) while the three PC RBLs contain wooden shipping crates from Mike's Lumber.
While these cars await the WiBi that will soon be dispatched from Williams Yard, the West Mill Transfer to Williams Yard arrives at Kings Port where it will soon encounter the aforementioned WiBi!
The WiBi is powered by a pair of EMD F7As with an aging C Liner on the point! KP&W #890 is the last remaining Fairbanks-Morse power on the line. It will likely be retired soon so local railfans are always excited to see it leading another run out of Williams Yard.
Watch the WiBi slowly head out of Williams Yard, stop to allow the West Mill Transfer go by, and then proceed to West Mill in the video below:
While the WiBi heads to West Mill, the West Mill Transfer stops in Williams Yard.
Its not long before the NYC covered hopper and its non-player PC mate are pulled from the Transfer and delivered to Blue Ribbon.
That's all for today. Check back tomorrow to see the latest WiBi arrive at West Mill...and more!

Excellence in Motion Ralph!!! A hearty welcome to the LV300 looking sharp in that Cornell Red coupled to the KP&W RS3. A new favorite lash up may be born. The LV GP9 sure has a mighty fine whine! Penn Central RSD12s are always a treat to see as is the workhorse of West Mill, ex NYC 8951.
KP&W putting on their own locomotive showcase with the return of C-Liner #890. That was awesome and a new railfan movement is underway. "Save the 890" is seeking donations to keep that F-M unit running and in good repair with an eye towards having it donated to a local rail museum upon its retirement.
Well done!!!!

Rock Ridge Yard Out!
Great looking moves from yard to yard. The light engine moves are always something to watch, especially in PC style. The ACCO and Peerless Appliances industries are one of my favorites on your railroad! Nice to see the trio of PC box cars made it intact!
