P.C.C.M. 39F: KP&W train for Salamanca & PC Extra #3007 to Weehawken

Hello again!

Continuing the latest Penn Central Car Movement series, we find West Mill yard switcher NYC #8951 getting the call to move a cut of cars for interchange with the Kings Port & Western.

These cars are going to be picked up at West Mill by a KP&W freight originating at its William's Yard in Kings Port.

The cut is set out for pick up.  The three NYC double door 50 foot boxcars are loaded with wire from Circle Wire and Cable.  They are headed for IBM in Binghamton.  The two empty B&M RBL cars are going to Corning Glass

An hour later, a red indication near WM tower warns of the imminent arrival of the KP&W freight.

Rolling through West Mill and passing by the cut to be picked up

The KP&W freight comes to a stop at West Mill.

The F7A & B consist uncouples from its train and moves forward so it can back up to pick up the cut from West Mill

Pulling the cut forward, taking the next track, and backing up to add it to the train...

The KP&W freight is ready to go...

....but the red signal for its track has it holding for another train...

...Which turns out to be PC Extra #3007 with cars from Terminal Yard for transfer to the Atlantic Pacific Railroad at Weehawken.

The train on the left track includes the yellow topped Morton Salt covered hopper for the Morton facility served by the A.P.R.R. and three PC jade green covered hoppers for Cargill.

Extra #3007 passes by the KP&W freight

The crew in the cab of KP&W F7A #160 observes one of the famous white A.P.R.R. boxcars passing by.

The tail end of Extra #3007 includes Penn Central and Empire Belt R.R. coal hoppers headed to R.M.O. Electric.

Extra #3007 continues on its way to Weehawken.

Twenty minutes later, the signal tower lights up green for the KP&W freight and it gets underway. The KP&W splits off from its joint trackage with the PC on the other side of the tunnel and heads west toward Salamanca NY.

The NYC 50 foot double door boxcar marks the end of the cut from West Mill.

More cars for points west carried by the Kings Port & Western

Later, after set outs at Binghamtom and Corning, cars from West Mill are seen at Corning Glass...

and IBM.

Thanks for following this long post!  More action to come as KP&W trains head up branch lines from West Mill and a Penn Central "Turn" is dispatched toward Kings Port.

Keep an eye on Neal's A.P.R.R. blog for the movement of Extra #3007's cars from Weehawken to Rock Ridge Yard!  https://atlanticpacificrailroad.blogspot.com/

Great job Ralph. I knew you'd be able to come up with something for the freight cars headed to Weehawken. Very impressive my friend!
