Hi there!
I'm posting again so soon because the New York Central Train Layout has dispatched Extra #3175 which is composed of a GP40 locomotive and a series of covered hoppers all painted and lettered by John R.
Take a look at John's fine work on these projects here:
http://newyorkcentrallayout.blogspot.com/2018/05/dispatch-of-extra-3175.html
Time for the loco and cars to head out to Neal's layout! As part of our virtual ops scheme they will pass through my Kings Port Division on the way to Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR layout.
The esteemed Kings Port Railfan Society, is having its weekly breakfast meeting at Dave's Diner. The K.P.R.S. is actually just a casual group of friends with names like T.C., Chooch, and Benny. Usually on top of the latest train movements, they learned about Extra #3175 a little too late just when it passed right by their diner window! T.C. managed to get a quick shaky shot of the newly painted GP40 #3175 with its orange C logo before running out of film! Should have checked that! He drops a new roll in his camera and..
...The guys quickly throw cash on the table and try to get out of the restaurant but the train's caboose is just rolling out of sight. They missed the string of new covered hoppers for the A.P.R.R., the Empire Belt R.R., and the Penn Central.
Scramble! Scramble!! Scramble!!! The guys cram into Chooch's VW bug so they can try to catch up to the train.
Dang it! Benny left his glasses on the table! Delays! Delays!!
Everyone finally squeezed in, the bug takes off to catch the train at West Mill.
The crossing lights were blinking but nothing obvious was coming so the group unwisely pushed on through the crossing only to be blocked by a helper set of FP7s slowly backing up toward Williams Yard.
"Let's Go!" shouts T.C. over the diesel horn warning blast as the road opens up!
Taking a bridge, the group finds themselves behind a slow moving cement mixer! "Oh come on!!!!"
They get to West Mill just in time to see the caboose go by again!
Racing a little farther, they stop at an overlook on West Mill Yard and once again catch just the caboose ducking into the tunnel at the south end of town.
Oh well. Time for lunch at Mussachia's Ristorante anyway! This group likes to eat as much as they like watching trains!
You can catch the newly painted loco and rolling stock when they arrive on Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R.:

The story of my layout featuring the fictional Kings Port Division of the Penn Central and my own freelanced Kings Port & Western Railroad. I'm having fun running DC with a roster that includes 30 year old Athearn and Atlas locos, rolling stock with some refurbished Tyco freight cars in the mix, and structures and scenery built on a budget. Thanks for taking a look!

P.C.C.M. 47i: Cars return to West Mill
Hi all,
After going off script and sending cars to the New York Central Train Layout and the Ralston Creek RR out of order of our Rail Traffic Management Form in an effort to quickly showcase some new industries, its time to get things back into order for future Penn Central Car Movements (P.C.C.M.s). The current 47th series of P.C.C.M.s is nearly finished as the Ralston Creek RR is forwarding cars westward.
See how John gathered and sent back the cars in his latest entry:
http://newyorkcentrallayout.blogspot.com/2018/05/pccm-47h.html
And keep an eye open for how Brian is working with cars sent his way:
https://ralsontoncreekrailroad.blogspot.com/
Cars left John's Terminal Yard on NV-3 and have reached Selkirk Yard. They were given new power and sent southward to West Mill as Extra #8150
Things are quiet for a short time at Ulster Ave in Kings Port...
...until a trio of GP9s with a recently washed unit still in its PRR livery cross on a caboose hop.
As the trio of early Geeps goes by Extra #8150 overtakes them on the main.
The train is powered by a pair of GP38-2s.
Like the proverbial swallows to Capistrano, all of the cars recently sent to Terminal Yard now return to West Mill.
Extra #8150 arrives at West Mill and slows to enter the yard.
The train comes to a halt and the crew disembarks.
Cars in the yard will be forwarded to their next destinations as designated on the Rail Traffic Management Form, which will be featured in P.C.C.M. #48. See you again soon!

P..C.C.M. 47C: WMV-5 Dispatched to Selkirk
Hi everyone!
Cars for John R.'s New York Central Train Layout and Brian's Ralston Creek layout have been set out at West Mill Yard on my Kings Port Division. West Mill Yard switcher SD9 #6925 is called for pull out duty to assemble train WMV-5 (West Mill to Selkirk).
The first block of cars is for Ralston Creek. A GERN car loaded with flux (that makes all products 3% better) is heading to the GERN facility in Arvada Colorado. A red Burlington gondola loaded with aluminum scrap is for Ball Container in Golden, CO.
PC covered hopper #890658 is loaded with cattle feed for the Denver Union Stock Yards
The five car Ralston Creek block is completed by Rock Island #35062 loaded with Zenith TVs, and the PC Hi Cube full of kitchen appliances. Both are being forwarded to Lefty Martin Appliances.
SD9# 6925 sorts cars for a block for Terminal Yard in Empire City
Three TOFCs are added to the Terminal Yard block.
The power for WMV-5 today will be a pair of husky GE U33Cs.
The consist rolls out of the engine track and past the yard entrance to back into its train.
Picking up orders at WM tower.
Sister U33C's #6554 and #6552 couple onto the train for Selkirk.
The crew boards after the hostlers leave and find they need to wait for permission to leave the Yard Limits.
The reason for the delay is the westward movement of a B&O/ C&O, Chessie System consist running light from Williams Yard to Salamanca NY.
The F7A-B-A lash up with its B&O caboose brought a coal train from the Genesee Docks to Williams Yard the day before.
The foreign road power passes through West Mill.
The PC crew take a look at the old classic B&O scheme on the F7A's which isn't seen much around here anymore.
The opposing traffic gone, WMV-5 gets permission to proceed out of the yard.
The block for points west is immediately behind the locomotives...
..followed by the block for Terminal Yard.
The Cooper-Jarrett trailer loaded with soda and the green PC trailer full of kitchen novelties are for Ralph's Grocery warehouse. The silver Empire Belt trailer has printed materials from Catskill Mountain Press for Anchor Cargo and Distribution.
The Cargill hopper is going back to its namesake elevator in Empire City while PC boxcar #164478 is loaded with TVs for Superior Furniture.
PC#229046 on the right is empty for Bruce Electrical, NYC #80755 carries machines parts for Reliable Machine...
P&LE #35892, loaded with more REVCO kitchen gadgets, EL #73510 full of soda, and PC #77047 loaded with canned vegetables, are all headed to Terminal Warehouse and Cold Storage.
A bay window caboose still in its New York Central livery brings up the rear.
WMV-5's conductor and the WM Tower operator exchange greetings as the train leaves town.
That's it for the Kings Port Division's involvement in this series.
