P.C.C.M. 63, Part 3: cars arrive from the N.Y.C.T.L.

Hello!

Continuing the "virtual ops" of this 63rd series we see cars from John's New York Central Train Layout  arrive on the Kings Port Division with Extra #3003 powered by a GP40/F7A consist put together for this secondary train from Selkirk.

The train includes this P&LE gon load of rough scrap for Sal's Salvage and a 40 foot PC boxcar loaded with Rheingold ("My Beer is the Dry Beer!") Beer for Reynold's Beverage Distributors.

B&M RBL #105 carries Berk Enterprises-made packaging for Blue Ribbon Flour.

Next in line are six loaded coal hoppers from Hudson Coal for KP Steel.

Three TOFCs for the Kings Port & Western's Williams Yard are next.

The end of the train includes two 38 foot hoppers loaded at Hudson Coal for Corning Glass's power plant.  The rest of the train is cut from these cars and the caboose since most of the manifest will be set out at nearby Williams Yard for the KP&W to deliver to local industries.

Extra #3003 pulls the last TOFC ahead of a switch that will allow it to back the train into Williams Yard.  The crew-cutted brakeman shrugs in response to the ad for the musical "Hair" posted behind him on the stairway to Kings Port Station.

The Extra rolls backward and the TOFCs pass the train's caboose on their way to Williams Yard.

The string of coal hoppers follows, passing KP Tower

As the GP40/ F7A continue their push they are passed at faster speed by a WV-1, the regular transfer from Weehawken to Selkirk.

WV-1 cleared out quickly as the slow paced Extra completes its shove into Williams Yard.

The hoppers can be seen entering the yard

A little later the cut for Williams Yard is broken up.  The six hoppers remain a block for KP Steel.  The B&M RBL will be set out for Blue Ribbon Flour.

The trailers are moved to the yard's TOCF tracks and their unloading ramp.

Not to forget the remaining parts of Extra #3003, the consist backs its two forward cars into the next siding to pick up a car to return to West Mill.

Its the much scrutinized PC #360158!  Despite the FBI and local PD's anticipation of getting the goods on the Battaglias by searching this empty car nothing incriminating was found and it had to be released.  "Cleanest boxcar interior I've ever seen!", commented a KP&W brakeman who opened the plug door for law enforcement officers.   The car will continue to earn revenue in P.C.C.M. 64.

Extra #3003 with five cars and a caboose for West Mill.

Leaving Kings Port...

Overcoming the Division's summit at Marion.

Arriving at West Mill.

The P&LE gon is for Sal's Salvage, right by the yard entrance, so this is an easy move to expedite shipment.  Sal comes out and stands by the brakeman while the set out is performed.

The loaded gon is set out...

...and the rest of the short train enters the yard.  The brakeman swears he hears Sal chuckling when PC 360158 rolls by..

Extra #3003 ties down.  These cars will be added to PC and KP&W locals to forward them to their consignees.

The NYC bay widow caboose is pulled off the cut of cars.

That's all for now.  Tomorrow cars from Neal's A.P.R.R. arrive on the KPD, completing the incoming  moves and setting the stage for final delivery of cars.

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

They finally released the freight car after nothing was in it! Terrible work by the FBI and local PD. I wonder who had a hand in this (maybe Sal and Cappy know?).

Nice work on getting the cars sorted and on their way...

  3. Another great segment with lots of car movements and deliveries. Looks like PC 360158 is the rolling equivalent of Al Capone’s vault. Enjoyed the trip up the Mayfield branch. The Kings Port Division is a busy place to watch trains.
