P.C.C.M. 80: Part 6 on the KPD

 Hello once again!

This is the final KPD post of the 80th series of our virtual ops between John's New York Central Train Layout  , Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R.  and my own Kings Port Division.   

This time we'll follow six cars originally dispatched by the A.P.R.R. from Rock Ridge Yard to Weehawken. They were interchanged there with the Penn Central and added to PC train WV-2 heading up the River Line to Selkirk.

The train will make an intermediate stop at West Mill to drop off some of the cars.

WV-2 will be dropping of the Morton Salt covered hopper loaded with salt for Cavendish Foods and two PC gons for ACME Auto Parts.  The three B&M RBLs seen at the front of the train will continue to Selkirk where they will be forwarded to Mechanicville for their return home to Merrimack, NH.  Watch the edited switching action in the video below:

WV-2 leaves for Selkirk after the three cars have been set out.


They are pulled into West Mill Yard by one of the switchers.  Sharp eyed blog followers may notice a continuity error in this post.  Hopefully I won't be making a routine of including one per installment!  If you haven't noticed it, then all I can say is that I "recoil" at my inattentiveness and hope "bygones" can be "bygones"

The Morton Salt car and the two loaded gons are coupled up with some "nonplayer" boxcars for a run to the KP&W's Mayfield Yard.  A New England style caboose is added for the trip

Today's power will be West Mill's trusty pair of RSD12s, most often seen on the Kings Port Turn.


Watch the six axle Alcos back into their train and then shove it out of West Mill Yard to access the mainline in the video below:

Now in position to proceed to Mayfield, the crew confers with WM Tower while waiting for permission to depart.

The train arrives at Mayfield and the next morning the three cars are sent out on KP&W local, Extra #761.   The Morton Salt car is set out at Cavendish to help boost the sodium content of their fine packaged English meals!  Beer sales often skyrocket with Cavendish foods!


PC gons #576104 and #576123 are set out at ACME Auto parts.

As an epilogue, we see the three B&M RBLs have made it to Mechanicville and are waiting for a train to take them to Merrimack, New Hampshire as part of their rotating car movement cycle.

    A very nice concluding installment Ralph!! Sounds like you had a few challenges with this one... Nevertheless it was a fine entry and very enjoyable to follow along with. Funny you mention it, my beer consumption goes way up with the Cavendish Meals! Nice work closing out the op and setting up things for the next P.C.C.M.!

    What a great wrap up! I always enjoy seeing the industries in Mayfield being worked. Acme Auto Parts is a favorite (I like the colors). I just saw a glimpse of the KP&W trailer in front of Cavendish Foods. Very nice work!
