P.C.C.M. #82: Part 2 on the KPD

Hello all!

This is the second "outbound" installment of our Penn Central Car Movement series of virtual operations between John's New York Central Train Layout,  Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R., and my own King Port Division.

In the previous installment Penn Central trains brought cars into West Mill Yard for eventual forwarding on outbound trains to John's and Neal's layouts.  Today the Kings Port & Western will provide more cars to be forwarded to the N.Y.C.T.L. and the A.P.R.R.

Arriving below is this morning's Mayfield Transfer.   Like the Bloomberg Turn yesterday the Transfer has to hold before taking the main.   Its waiting for another KP&W train, the "BiWi" from Binghamton that runs to Williams Yard near Kings Port.

Watch the BiWi with pooled B&O/KP&W power roll by the Transfer and come to a stop to drop off a few cars at West Mill.

The virtual ops cars on this train include LV #8247 loaded with Delco batteries for IDEAL Auto Parts,  LV 7120 carrying Heintz pickles and catsup for C&P Restaurant Supply, and Coring NAHX #90404 empty for Pennsylvanian Glass Sand in Cumberland, New Jersey.  All three of these cars are bound for the A.P.R.R.

The cars are cut from the BiWi behind the Corning car.

...pulled forward to access the siding next to the main...

 ...and set out.

The consist of four F7s then returns to its train.

After checking connections and pumping up the air the BiWi proceeds to Williams Yard.

Once the BiWi is clear the Mayfield Transfer gets the OK to take the main.   Time to look alert after the long delay!  Watch the action in the video below:

Like all trains entering West Mill from the south, the Mayfield Transfer has to pull ahead of the yard access switch to back its cars into the yard.

Watch the Transfer back into West Mill in the video below.  The virtual ops cars on this train include three auto parts cars from ACME Auto parts for Ford: NYC #53051, KP&W #503353, and PC/TOC #50562, along with KP&W 40 foot boxcar #15638 empty from Amalgamated Container for Port Owen Brick Company, and KP&W hoppers #233 &234 loaded with coal for RMO Electric.

That accounts for all of the cars that will be forwarded to John's and Neal's layouts this time around!   Tomorrow' installment will feature the assembly and dispatch of trains to their layouts.

    Terminal Yard out....

KP&W engine consists looking good Ralph!!! Pooled KP&W and B&O power on the BIWI is one of my favorite lash ups. F7A- RS unit on Mayfield Transfer is another favorite. The West Mill crew will have a full day of work building the outbound trains! Nice work setting the stage for the dispatch portion of your posts!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Nice to see the trains in action at West Mill. The way cars are both pulled in and shoved on the yard tracks is just fun to watch. The APRR will be ready to receive the inbound freight from West Mill!
