Welcome back virtual ops fans!
We're continuing our virtual ops between John's New York Central Train Layout , Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R. , and my own Kings Port Division.
Cars that arrived at West Mill are being delivered to their consignees via the Penn Central and Kings Port & Western R.R. The KP&W takes center stage as the daily transfer run from Mayfield Yard has arrived at West Mill with more loaded hoppers full of coal from the KP&W's Lehigh Valley connection.
After setting out the hoppers in the yard the KP&W F7/RS3 consist prepares to pull several cars to take back to Mayfield for eventual forwarding to Mayfield area industries.
Watch the Mayfield Transfer depart West Mill in the video below
The next day local trains from Mayfield Yard delivers cars to ACME Auto Parts,Cavendish Foods and Peerless Appliance.
ACME receives 86 foot PRR #125291, NYC #67086...
...and Empire Belt #608279 all empty to load for Ford.
PC Hi Cube #272242 loaded with bulk hardware from American Hardware is set out at Peerless Appliance
A KP&W local sets out two of their own boxcars #644450 and #644455 at Cavendish Foods loaded with food stuffs from C&P Restaurant Supply...
...along with PC #360063 loaded with packaging from C&P.
Turning our attention to West Mill its time for the Penn Central to deliver more of the cars that came from the N.Y.C.T.L. and A.P.R.R.
Three boxcars, EL #73510, NYC 47062, and KP&W #15638 are set on the car float along with coal hoppers destined for the Edison Power Plant across the river in Port Owen. The boxcars are consigned to Port Owen Brick Co.
After a 45 minute voyage the cars arrive and are placed at Port Owen Brick Co.
The EL and NYC cars are loaded with bagged iron ore from T&R Gravel while the KP&W car is empty.
A last look at West Mill for this installment:
Two 38 foot hoppers loaded with ballast from T&R Gravel have been moved to a spot in the yard requiring some maintenance.
Before we leave here is a historical note! April 12th is the anniversary of Andrew's Raid, otherwise known as The Great Locomotive Chase of 1862. In an effort to disrupt the Confederate railroads, Union soldiers dressed as civilians stole "The General" and three boxcars as its crew stopped for breakfast at a hotel at Big Shanty, Georgia.
The plan was to take the train to Chattanooga while sabotaging and destroying track and bridges along the way. The operation was unsuccessful and some of the raiders were captured because The General ran out of fuel and water while being pursued by the relentless Western & Atlantic R.R. Conductor William A. Fuller.
Here I'm imagining an Eastern Seaboard Promotional Tour by The General stopping briefly at West Mill. The General actually did
operate trains in later years and even visited the 1964 State Fair under its own power!
Here it gets a little help from a pair of PC F7s during its tour stop at West Mill.
That's plenty for today! The final installment of this series will be posted tomorrow. Thanks for following along!

Excellent post documenting the car movements and the historical reference of the W&A RR General!!! Mayfield Transfer F7A-RS unit locomotive consist is an eye catching favorite. Mayfield, Port Owen industries and car float operations make for great model RR photography and the KPD photographer did not disappoint! The arrival of the General was nicely done and reminded me of a prototypical showing in a PC video. For your readers, the General still exists and cane be visited at Kennesaw College in Georgia. http://www.kennesaw.com/attractions/the-general/ Well done Ralph!!!

Now that was a nice surprise to see that ‘General” engine on the railroad. I guess we need a special guest to make an appearance on the railroad. Pretty cool. The video of the move of the Mayfield Transfer to west Mill was very cool as the 86’ Box Cars look mighty impressive as they moved through the yard…
