Train URN-3 has arrived at West Mill where it will be handed over by the Pen Central to the KP&W and its partner the B&O. The Kings Port & Western is pooling power with the B&O on this operation. The train will later be running on B&O track from Salamanca to Rochester.
The PC power is cut and replaced by a pair of B&O F7s.
The power transfer completed, the train's caboose will be switched out for a recently serviced B&O caboose for the new crew. NYC switcher #8951 handles the job of exchanging the cabooses.
The switch completed, the crew of #8951 chat about the new Unit Coal Train movements while the guys on the KP&W/B&O train pump up the air and wait for clearance to proceed.
All green for URN-3, now under the control of the KP&W and B&O! The train rolls out of West Mill toward Salmanca, NY.
Here is video of the action!

Thanks for checking out this newest car movement in the virtual ops scheme!
Another smooth transition by the King's Port crew. That coal train looks awesome. For me nothing represents American railroading as well as a long coal train. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteAs The CEO/CFO/CFF of the HRC I would ask that you hold off on sending the NYCTL's portion of the revenue from this train operation. I have been informed by my cracker pot legal team that apparently there was no interchange agreement between the NYCTL and the HRC. Since the HRC's territory runs from the Atlantic Ocean to the far side of the Blue Ridge Mountains there is no know route the NYCTL could have taken that did not use HRC trackage, therefore requiring financial revenue for the HRC.
Hmmmmmm, we'll get our legal team on this but it seems you may have a case!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed!
Great job Ralph!!!! Great scenes and photos of a great layout in action!
ReplyDeleteBoulder dash Double E! Another frivolous lawsuit filed by the HRC trying to impede honest earnings and grab a few pennies in an out of court settlement!
I noticed the PC used three units on URN-3 and the the B&O used only two older F's to finish the job. Is this another case of 'WASTEFUL DISPATCHING' by the PC?
ReplyDeleteLet's go with that! :)
