Hello all!
We've resumed virtual operations between the New York Central Train Layout and my Kings Port Division. Some moves are also happening between the N.Y.C.T.L. and John B.'s Los Feliz and Northwestern.
You can follow the opening moves of this 43rd series of Penn Central Car Movements on John R.'s N.Y.C.T.L. blog.

Train LI-1 dispatched frm Terminal Yard on John's layout has reached Selkirk and crews there removed the cuts of cars for the Kings Port Division. They were then placed on Train VW-1 (Selkirk to Weehawken) and sent south to West Mill Yard....now arriving!
A red signal indicates the approach of VW-1 near WM tower
In keeping with a recent theme of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Penn Central Railroad (February 1st, 1968) an early merger consist appears; a pair of F7As with two GP9s sandwiched in between.
VW-1 is hauling empty grain cars for nearby Empire Grain...
...several cars for the Penn Central to deliver to local industries n West Mill, Kings Port, and Marion...
(The corrugated gondolas are loaded with scrap metal for KP Steel in Kings Port...)
...and cars to be interchanged with the Kings Port & Western for customers on their Mayfield and Mountain Line branches.
Slowing to a stop beyond the Yard Tower the train stretches along the length of West Mill Yard.
You can see how empty West Mill is right now...a good thing since the cars on this train will take up some of the yard's capacity!
The train has been cut behind a well respected road traveler, this ancient former NYC Pacemaker, that is carrying burlap bags for Agway feeds.
The rest of VW-1 waits in the tunnel under GERN Industries to resume its journey to Weehawken after the cars for West Mill are pulled into West Mill Yard.
We'll follow that action later today!
Thanks for taking a look!
Great start to 43D on the KP&W! Looks like the crew will have their hands full with all that freight to be moved. Looking forward to the next installment!
