Its been a while but, after a variety of special features, our virtual operations group has returned to a regular series of Penn Central Car Movements (P.C.C.M.s) in which we moved mixed freight to each others' layouts.
Watch John R.'s New York Central Train Layout get things started
HERE!
Meanwhile on the Kings Port Division several cars are being gathered from local industries for assembly into trains at Williams Yard or for pick up by other trains headed to Neal's A.P.R.R. and Brian's Ralston Creek RR.
Included in this run are a pair of 38 foot hoppers which will be loaded with aggregate for the New York State DOT Area 10 highway project, and PC boxcar #77047 loaded with bagged aggregate for Neal's Lumber and Hardware.
Two cars loaded with kitchen gadgets and other cheap plastic wonders no homemaker can do without are from REVCO for Ralph's Grocery Warehouse.
An NYC Early Bird with a replacement door and a P&LE car are seen being pulled from REVCO across the track from Van Winkle Canning
To continue the happy housewife theme, three carloads of new kitchen appliances from Peerless Appliance head for All City Storage.
As a departure from domestic bliss and technology here is a PC covered hopper filled with cattle feed for the Denver Stock Yards.
Steel Slabs from KP Steel are being forwarded to Mid Island Steel.
Two bread box trough cars loaded with coils are on their way to Gervais Pipe and Fittings.
A P&LE drop end gondola along with two buffer flats carries a steel bridge girder for the NYS DOT Area 10 project.
PC boxcar #104478 is loaded with new 55 gallon drums for Drywell inks
All of the above mentioned cars at KP Steel are pulled by a KP&W job that came out of Williams Yard. Once they return to Williams the cars will be tacked onto a PC transfer run to West Mill. The KP&W operates a lot of First Generation EMD equipment.
The pair of Geeps pull the cars from KP Steel's holding yard.
...and return to their Williams Yard home base.
The Williams Yard Job passes PC 50 foot plug door boxcar #360158, now empty from Battaglia Brother's Warehouse. It will be picked up by another KP&W job and forwarded to West Mill and eventually to University Milling
P&LE # 35892 full of bagged flour from Blue Ribbon Flour for Ralph's Grocery Warehouse sits on an interchange track with...
...Three B&M RBL cars also loaded at Blue Ribbon. B&M #109 and 110 are headed to Hostess Bakery while #105 is bound for Freihofers where they make the best soft chocolate chip cookies!
Watch the cars arrive at West Mill on a PC transfer run headed by an aging consist of a GP9B in the middle of a pair of GP9s!
The train stops at West Mill. The three NYC 50 footers in the foreground, seen at Peerless earlier, arrived at West Mill on a Mayfield Transfer courtesy of the KP&W.
The transfer run cars can be seen stretching beyond West Mill's business district.
Yard Switcher SD9 #6925 takes on the task of pulling cars off the train...
...until they are all set out on West Mill yard tracks.
Meanwhile a PC local out of West Mill finds EL #73510 loaded with bagged cement for Neal's Lumber and Hardware at Booms Ready Mix.
The car will be returned to West Mill to be included on a train to Selkirk and eventually Empire City.
A local yard job pulls PC #229046 from the Canton Box Co. loaded with boxes for Hostess.
Before entering the yard the local also picks up a GERN covered hopper loaded with flux for GERN Denver.
The yard is filling up and Cappy Foster's crew needs to start sorting the cars into blocks for the next train to Selkirk and to set out a car for the next southbound to Rock Ridge.
Stay tuned!
