Continuing the latest virtual ops series we're looking at the cars that were brought to West Mill the last couple of days to form Train WMV-3 to Selkirk. After arrival they were blocked on three tracks to help expedite sorting at Selkirk and Terminal Yard.
The first block is for industries in Empire City: PC boxcar #104478 for Drywell Inks and the two coil cars are for Gervais Pipe & Fitting...
...followed by cars for Ralph's Grocery Whse. The NYC Early Bird and P&E car have REVCO kitchen gadgets while the P&LE car is loaded with bagged flour.
Cars for Neal's Lumber and Hardware include EL #73510 loaded with bagged cement and PC #77047 loaded with bagged landscape rock.
The next block is headed to the Bedford area where these three NYC 50 foot cars are going to All City Storage with kitchen appliances.
Cars for Hostess include PC #229046 which has boxes...
...while the B&M RBLs are loaded with bagged flour.
PC # 360158 is empty for University Milling
Cars that will be forwarded beyond Empire City include two gons of steel slabs for Mid Island Steel
...and a steel bridge girder and two hoppers of aggregate for the New York State DOT Area 10 highway project
Finally, two cars that will be cut at Selkirk and forwarded to Denver, a covered hopper of cattle feed and a GERN load of "Flux"
The only car that recently arrived at West Mill on the Williams Yard Transfer that is not headed to Selkirk is B&M #105 which will travel in the opposite direction to Rock Ridge for the Freihofer Bakery loaded with bagged flour.
SLX-1, dispatched from Terminal Yard with cars for the A.P.R.R.'s Rock Ridge Yard will pick up the B&M RBL at West Mill. The train is headed by a handsome New York Central F7A-B-A set seen in this photo from John's blog.
Unfortunately a local West Mill railfan only photographs the tops of the cigar banded lashup as SLX-1 arrives at West Mill.
B&M #105 is added to the rear of the train which then heads south to Weehawken.
After SLX-1 departs the power assigned to WMV-3 (West Mill to Selkirk) leaves the engine track. Two FP7s and a GP38-2 make up today's consist.
The locomotives stop at WM tower for orders prior to backing into the yard to pick up the train.
The blocks of cars are coupled together to form the train
The fully formed WMV-3 passes through Kings Port, meeting VWM-4 (Selkirk to West Mill) which holds at a siding north of town.
VWM-4 started as NV-3 when it was dispatched from Terminal Yard. Its designation changed after leaving Selkirk for West Mill. This train is headed by an FP7-FB-GP38 consist. Here is the train pictured as it leaves Terminal Yard.
See it pass by Kings Port as it heads to West Mill.
VWM-4 arrives at West Mill
...and work begins pulling the cars and moving them to yard tracks.

Nice to see the trains moving in and out of West Mill. I always enjoy pics of the yard and diesel fueling area.
