P.C.C.M. 58: A short run to set out cars.

Hi all!

Continuing the action on the Kings Port Division during our current virtual ops series, cars from Terminal Yard have been sorted at West Mill for out going trains.

The  block below will be interchanged with the KP&W for transfer to Mayfield Yard and later for delivery to ACME Auto Parts and Peerless Appliance.

The coal hoppers and coil cars below are headed to KP Steel..

...while the Cargill and NYC covered hoppers will be set out at Blue Ribbon Flour in Kings Port

The IC car is loaded with cans of Heilemans Beer while the NYC Hi Cube contains tall neck bottles of Empire City's home brew.

The original plan was to run a Kings Port Turn out of West Mill that would set out cars at Reynolds Beverage Distributors, KP Steel and Blue Ribbon Flour.   A priority car movement request from the GULF facility on the river north of West Mill, however, led to a change in plans.   These tankers at the GULF facility need immediate pick up.

Cappy Foster and his crew have a quick conference while "Fingers" O'Malley waits impatiently on the porch of his transfer hack.

Cappy decides to send out a short run to pick up the tankers and also serve Reynolds Beverage Distributors which is right next to the oil facility.  This move will get the tankers back to West Mill a lot faster than waiting for a Kings Port Turn that would take hours serving several industries along the line to Kings Port before returning to pick up the tankers.

The diamond between Reynolds and the GULF facility connected to spurs serving both industries..

The two covered hoppers for Blue Ribbon are moved out of the way of the cars for Reynolds, switched to the next track, and tacked onto the cars heading toward KP Steel which later will comprise a Kings Port Turn.

SD9 #6922 gets the call to haul the two car train to Reynolds and GULF Oil.

See the train leave West Mill and arrive at Reynolds and the GULF facility in the video below:

The short train arrives at the GULF facility and prepares to back into Reynolds Bev. to set out the cars.

The cars loaded with beer for thirsty Kings Portians are set out at Reynolds.   The SD9 now positions itself to enter GULF's spur to pull six tank cars.

Next up:  The Kings Port Turn delivers cars to KP Steel and Blue Ribbon Flour.   The Turn's crew boards RSD12 #6869 to get things started.

Stay tuned!
