P.C.C.M. 59: 4th KPD Installment-A Push/Pull Local Job.

Hello everyone!

P.C.C.M. #59 is reaching the point on the Kings Port Division in which cars are being set out to their consignees.   Deliveries for Sal's Salvage and Canton Box Co., which are both located right near West Mill Yard, are creating a bit of dilemma.  Both businesses are due to receive more cars than their spurs can accommodate.   Yardmaster Cappy Foster has decided to expedite the forwarding of half orders to both industries with a promised quick turnaround once his office receives reports the cars are ready to be moved.

In the case of Sal's Salvage, four gondolas of rough scrap are consigned to the scrap yard that can only accommodate two.  Yard Switcher #8951 pulls two of the four gons and sets them on another track for later delivery

The gray covered hopper behind the two gons is for GERN...but its poorly placed.  GERN and SAl's Salvage share a rail spur but the GERN car will need to be ahead of the gons when they are all pushed into their respective stops.  The crew of #8951 pulls all three cars so it can set the GERN car on another track for repositioning.

While these moves to get the GERN car up front are being carried out, the power for today's Yard Job, a GP7 still in its aging NYC livery, fires up and moves into the yard.

The Geep gets into place as the yard switcher finishes putting the GERN car and gons in the correct order for forwarding.

The next move is to shove the three cars into the waiting Geep which will push the cars into the spur shared by Sal's and GERN

The Geep surges forward but it will do a back up move into the next track to pick up a PC boxcar car for Canton Box which has a siding oriented in the opposite direction from Sal's/GERN.  This move will make it easy to set out the PC boxcar after dropping off the gons and covered hopper.

Picking up PC boxcar #104478 loaded with printed labels from Berk Enterprises for Canton Box Co.   The NYC double door boxcar #47062 is also consigned to Canton Box but their spur and loading dock can only receive one car.

See the Yard Job get set up in the video below:

After picking up the PC boxcar the short Yard Job is underway!

Cars are set out at GERN and Sal's Salvage.

After working the "leading point" spur the Yard Job moves through the maze of switches near WM tower to back PC #104478 into Canton Box Co.'s "trailing point" spur.

The short Yard Job completed, the GP7 heads back to the West Mill engine track.  A similar move will completed within a day or two to set out the rest of the cars for Sal's and Canton Box.

Next up:  The Kings Port & Western takes over.
