P.C.C.M. 58: The Kings Port Turn is dispatched from West Mill

Hi gang!

We continue railfanning P.C.C.M. #58 and find that Cappy Foster and company are ready to dispatch the Kings Port Turn from West Mill Yard.  This train will set out coal hoppers and empty coil cars at KP Steel and drop off two empty covered hoppers at Blue Ribbon Flour.

As usual, the reliable  pair of RSD12s assigned to West Mill get the call to head the Turn.  The crew boards #6869 as the V12 four stroke diesel engines in the two locomotives make their loud characteristic ALCO thrumming.

Backing into the yard tracks the RSD12s couple onto their train.

Cars for Blue Ribbon Flour

...and KP Steel.

Watch the train pull out of West Mill's yard tracks prior to picking up its caboose in the video below:

The Turn can pass by Reynolds Beverage Distributors and the GULF Oil facility, both of which were served by a priority run earlier in the day.

Watch the train cross Ulster Ave in the video below:

Arriving at KP Steel the train drops off the two empty coil cars and the six loaded hoppers.

Cutting the caboose to set out the cars.   Conductor Fingers O'Malley confers with his brakeman.

In position to shove the cars into KP Steel's holding yard.

First the Evans Bread Box Trough coil cars....

...and then the coal hoppers.

Fingers supervises the action from his back porch.

The cars for KP Steel have been set out.

Watch the cars being set out at KP Steel in the video below:

One more delivery to go:  two empty covered hoppers for Blue Ribbon Flour.  The brake man throws the switch for an industrial lead toward Blue Ribbon.

Here is Blue Ribbon.  The loading dock accessed by the Turn is on a lower level.

After setting out the two cars at Blue Ribbon the ALCOS return to the transfer hack and the always impatient O'Malley.

Follow the action on video below:

The guys will take a break here and then pick up cars at the KP&W's nearby Williams Yard for transfer to West Mill.  We won't follow that action but stay tuned for a KP&W freight out of West Mill later that will serve Peerless Appliance and ACME Auto Parts.

  3. The videos are great fun, especially with the sound effects. The RSD-12s look really good. Too bad they're so hard to find!

    1. Thanks John! Those videos were fun to crate. I purchased the RSD12s from another modeler online. Never seen one at a train show sale. I'd pick it up in a snap!
