P.C.C.M. 75: Installment 6 on the KPD

 Hello railfans!

This is the sixth and final installment from the KPD for this milestone 75th virtual ops series!  Cars are being forwarded from John's  New York Central Train Layout and Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R.  to their respective consignees.

We'll start with four cars that arrived early today from Neal's A.P.R.R.  The cut from the A.P.R.R. includes two empty KP&W coal hoppers....

...and a PC Hi Cube that will be picked up by a transfer run from Mayfield Yard arriving at West Mill, as well as PC boxcar #160502 that will be forwarded to Battaglia Bros. Warehouse in Kings Port.

Watch West Mill's SD9 #6922 pull the A.P.R.R. cut into the yard.

In anticipation of the KP&W Transfer, SD9 #6922 is unloading the car float of empty coal hoppers from Port Owen's Edison Power Plant.   The two KP&W hoppers will travel to Mayfield with them.

The car float hoppers are set on the track next to the float.

The two KP&W hoppers (#233 &234) are added to the string for Mayfield.

PC Hi Cube #272747 loaded with hardware for Peerless Appliance is also going for a ride on the Mayfield Transfer and is added to the string of hoppers.

KP&W Extra #566 (the Mayfield Transfer) has arrived with a string of loaded hoppers for the car float that will be exchanged for the empties that were just pulled off the barge.

After backing into West Mill Yard it drops off loaded hoppers from the Lehigh valley Connection

Loads and empties side by side.

The two KP&W units uncouple from their loaded hoppers and move over one track to pick up the PC Hi Cube and the empty hoppers, including KP&W 233 & 234.

...and the KP&W Transfer is underway for Mayfield.

The Mayfield Transfer arrives at Mayfield late in the day.   The two KP&W empty coal hoppers will be hauled to the Lehigh Valley Coal Connection this evening by LV #305 in the foreground

PC Hi Cube #272747 is delivered to Peerless Appliance the next morning by the Mayfield Local.

Lets head back over to the KP&W's Williams Yard near Kings Port.

The WiBi is getting ready to go! Power for WiBi-1 consists of F7As #110 and #175 seen backing up to their train.

LV #8274 is going back empty to the Delco company in Flint, MI

The "WeeBee" (technically WiBi-1) gets underway...

..and later arrives at West Mill...

....to dead head two B&M units "borrowed" by the KP&W for a transfer run to West Mill in a previous post.

Once the Bluebird units reach Binghamton they will be pressed into service on a pooled power run with the D&H to Mechanicville before heading back to Massachusetts.  The B&M is well aware of the KP&W's tendency to "purloin" their locomotives and usually sends older First Generation locomotives on its runs to Williams Yard as a result.

After adding the B&M units to its consist the WiBi leaves West Mill

After the run to Binghamton cleared the tracks, West Mill's twin RSD 12s couple up to a short Northbound Turn that will deliver the last remaining car forwarded from the A.P.R.R.

PC plug door boxcar #160502 is loaded with merchandise from Three Amigos Warehouse that is being sent to Battaglia Bros. Warhouse in Kings Port.

The train heads out with other "nonplayer" cars in tow as it passes by the now empty A.P.R.R. #9416 that was loaded with ballast for West Mill MOW.

The Turn arrives at Kings Port where it sets out PC #160502 at Battaglia Brothers Warehouse whose siding is located beyond the underpass.

That last set out at Battaglia Brothers Warehouse completes the disposition of all cars sent to the Kings Port Division for this series!   Its been a great one all around!  Thanks for following along!

P.C.C.M. 75: Part 5 on the KPD

 Hi Ho!

Time for the next installment of the Kings Port Division's participation in our 75th virtual ops series!

Some of the cars sent from John's New York Central Train Layout are being delivered to consignees.

Continuing from yesterday when the Mayfield Transfer was pulling out of West Mill with six auto parts cars among its manifest....

The transfer leaves West Mill

After arriving at Mayfield Yard the train is broken down for a KP&W local to deliver the six large cars to ACME Auto Parts.

Green LV Boxcar #66392, loaded with paint and related products from American Hardware is set out at Amalgamated Container

And, IC Boxcar #303130, loaded with Tea from Neubaums is dropped off at Cavendish Foods

That takes care of the delivery of cars from the N.Y.C.T.L. for Mayfield area industries.

Returning our focus back to West Mill, a Bloomberg run will carry only one virtual ops car from the N.Y.C.T.L. this time.    PC boxcar #360158, is loaded with wood cabinets for Zenith TV made by University Milling.  The rest of the train are "nonplayer cars" needed to meet the West Mill Yard minimum requirement of five cars for Blomberg before dispatching a train.

Watch the usual power for the Bloomberg Run (WMB-1), GP30 #2212 and GP20 #2107 couple up to the train and push it out of West Mill Yard in the video below.

WMB-1 has to hold before backing onto the mainline as a thru-coal train is expected shortly.  It stops at the crossing by Canton Box Co.

All is quiet for 20 minutes until the blare of an F7 horn alerts us that a train is arriving.

Watch as a unit train of empty coal hoppers led by a pair of B&O covered wagons from the KP&W's Williams Yard runs through West Mill.  The train, that will follow the KP&W's mainline toward Binghamton, is ultimately headed for the Genesee Coal docks in Rochester.  Usually these trains are pooled power runs with the KP&W but only B&O engines are at the head end today.   Typically the B&O units don't go farther east than West Mill but these two obviously made the trip to Williams Yard and are now heading home.

Once the KP&W/B&O train leaves West Mill, WMB-1 gets clearance to take the main and heads to Bloomberg.

After reaching Bloomberg the train sets out the one virtual ops car at Zenith TV across the tracks from Quality Fabrications.

Meanwhile back at West Mill Yard, a Gulf run with two tankers is managed by the yard's hard working SW9.

Watch the two tankers get set out at Gulf in the video below.  You will also see a KP&W S12 pick up TOFCs and an LV boxcar left on the interchange by the Penn Central for the KP&W's Williams Yard (seen in a previous post).

The cars from the interchange are brought into William Yard.

After the cut from the interchange is pulled into Williams Yard, a KP&W switcher adds LV boxcar #8247 to the next WiBi (Williams Yard to Binghamton)  that is being prepared on the departure track.

The TOFCs are moved to the unloading ramp.

We'll wrap it up here for today but we'll catch the dispatch of the WiBi and more tomorrow.   Y'all come back now..hear?
