PCCM 86: Part 3 on the KPD

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #86!   The two- layout "virtual ops" between my Kings Port Division and John's New York Central Train Layout  continues with inbound trains arriving with cars for us to forward to various consignees.

John is sending me 32 cars this time around on two trains.  The first is TW-67 out of Terminal Yard.   Watch the train , powered by a GP38/GP38-2 consist, roll through Kings Port on its way to West Mill while an MOW train with "The Big Hook" passes by in the opposite direction.

An hour later the train from Terminal Yard arrives at West Mill where it will be received in the yard and broken up.

While a yard crewman walks the train to bleed the air we'll note that the manifest on TW-67 includes PC Hi Cube #272742 loaded with electrical parts from Bruce Electrical Equipment for Peerless Appliance...

PC/TOC #350562,  KP&W #50335, and NYC #53051 are all empty for ACME Auto Parts to load for Ford....

...the old NYC Pacemaker is heading toward Agway loaded with Moore & Co. burlap bags, PC #104478 is carrying Drywell ink for The Catskill Mt. Press, and PC #77047 contains pallets from City Pallets for for Woodstock Hills Natural Soda...

...APRR RBLS #60327 & 60358, also loaded with pallets, are heading to the Van Winkle Canning Co....

...PC # 229046 is full of Berk Enterprises printed labels for Van Winkle Canning, EL #73510 has bagged iron ore for Port Owen Brick Co.,   while PC #360063 is loaded with bulk cardboard for Canton Box Co. ...

...The two Gulf tankers are empty for the riverside Gulf facility in lower Kings Port while the old NYC Early Bird is carrying Prestige Gears products for LaRoche Cycle.

Switcher #8951 gets to work breaking down the train into three blocks that we'll cover in the next installments.

West Mill sends its thanks along with a bottle of Cavendish Scotch to the Terminal Yard crew for the thoughtful blocking of TW-67 that made this an easy job!

While this work is being performed in West Mill, the second train John dispatched from Terminal Yard, PC TK-99, has reached Kings Port.   Watch TK-99 arrive with a classy PC GP30/F7B/F7A lashup!

Most of this train's manifest will be backed into the KP&W's Williams Yard except for two PC gondolas of scrap that will be left on the Kings Port interchange track for KP Steel.

The train is cut behind the two gons for the interchange set out.

Watch the gons get set out in the video below:

After the two gons for KP steel are set out the train reconnects itself for the shove backwards into the Kings Port & Western's Williams Yard.

Later that day the cars from TK-99 have been separated into blocks or delivered to unloading stations in the yard.

The four TOFCs are off-loaded with a PC cab pulling the green trailer off the flat.

The Caterpillar heavy equipment on the two Southern Railroad bulkhead flat cars is being claimed by representatives of the Hudson Valley Ag Coop (HVAC), as is the load of irrigation pipes in EBRR gon # 509823 seen behind the Southern cars.
Cars set aside for the next Williams Yard to Binghamton Transfer (the WiBi)  include the two white LV cars with #7120 heading back to Frontier Yard n Buffalo and #8247 going to Delco in Flint, MI.  The Corning covered hopper is loaded with silica sand for Corning Glass Co.
Cars for local consignees Battaglia Brothers Warehouse and Blue Ribbon Flour are waiting for dispatch on the track behind the WiBi cut.
KP&W S-12 #34 couples up to P&E #3638 loaded with milling machines for Blue Ribbon from Relable Machine Works in Empire city.  The local will get underway shortly.

Meanwhile back at the HVAC unloading dock, there seems to be an uproar over one of the deliveries.   HVAC representatives are up in arms because they received something other than the new Caterpillar excavator they ordered!   The equipment that rolled off the Southern Railroad bulkhead flat is not only NOT an excavator...its not even NEW!

So, what's going on...and what is that large tarp-covered load pulling into Sal Monella's Scrap yard with Sal himself supervising?  If it is indeed what we think it is then Sal is the David Copperfield of crime!  No doubt he's changed the unit's serial number and, despite investigation, he will likely not be held accountable!

That's what's happening on the KPD for now.  Stay tuned for more tomorrow.

Acknowledge arrival of Train TW-67 at West Mill
Acknowledge arrival of Train TK-99 at Williams Yard and turned over to the KP&W RR.
Acknowledge set out on Kings Port Interchange Track of PC gons loaded with scrap for Kings Port Steel.
Acknowledge the ol' switcheroo of a new excavator for ratty old equipment!!!

    Terminal Yard out...

Excellent opening inbound segment Ralph!!! I really enjoyed seeing both TW-67 and TK-99 in action and arriving at their respective yards. Real nice camera work on the TK-99 coming into West Mill. The boys at Terminal Yard appreciate the shout out and the bottle of Cavendish for their blocking of Train TK-99!!!

Williams Yard looked great with a full compliment of freight cars with the TOFC, pipe and heavy equipment cars being unloaded. It certainly looks like Sal Monella has struck again!!! The "David Copperfield of crime" sure looks to have transported that purloined excavator to his scrap yard. The fink!
