PCCM 87: Part 5 on the KPD

 Hi again!

We're deep into the "inbounds" portion of our latest Penn Central Car Movements (PCCM) between my Kings Port Division and John's New York Central Train Layout .

All of the cars scheduled for West Mill Yard and Williams Yard have arrived and are now being assembled into trains to deliver them to their respective consignees.   That's what its all about, after all!   Revenue is made by satisfying customers!

The Kings Port Division's continued efforts to keep online (that's on the railroad line) customers happy this time around begin with loading three cars for Port Owen Brick Co. on the car float and dispatching a northbound local to serve GERN Industries, Canton Box Co., and Reynolds Beverage Distributors.  The cars for Port Owen Brick are placed on the float by SD9  #6922.

Cars for these intra-layout moves include P&E boxcar #3638, empty to receive pallets of bricks for Neal's Hardware and Lumber in Empire City, and PS-2 hoppers PC #883190 and KP&W #445052, both loaded with lime.

The carfloat will cast off soon.  After it arrives at Port Owen the cars for Port Owen Brick Co. will be pulled off the float and set out.

Meanwhile, RSD12 # 6865 gets the call for a short North Local. Normally this loco is run with its twin sister unit but a three car train hardly requires that much motive power!

The Alco picks up its cars while the carfloat continues loading.   PC #104478 is in front of the locomotive for easy set out at nearby GERN Industries.   The black Hoschton Ry. car  is loaded with Schaefer Beer for Reynolds Beverage Distributors, and P&LE #35892 is empty for Canton Box Co. to load it with cartons for Sunshine Biscuits.

Watch the North Local head out with its three cars:

The short North Local stops at Sal's Salvage and cuts the caboose.

The depressed well flat that brought Sal his latest excavator is pulled

...and PC 104478 is set out at GERN beyond Sal's Scrap yard limits.

The local then prepares to drop off  P&LE #35892 at Canton Box Co.

After the set out the local heads for Reynolds Beverage Distributors.

Watch the work at Reynolds Beverage Distributors in the video below:

We'll follow more action tomorrow!  Thanks for taking a look!

A fine installment focusing on serving the online customers! Very enjoyable to follow the car float action and North Local train moves. The SD9s and RSD12 did a fine job moving the tonnage!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

The local action continues. It’s nice to see some short trains delivering freight to industries. I did not the SD9 shoving on to the car float. That’s a lot of power to work the float. Nice work Ralph!
