PCCM 92 Special Coal Op: Part 2 on the KPD

 Hi there!

We're running a special coal train op between John's New York Central Train Layout , Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R. , and my own Kings Port Division.   All of the action is happening this weekend!

Trains of loaded and empty coal hoppers were dispatched from West Mill Yard last Friday.   Today we're at Selkirk waiting for a long string of hoppers (that were loaded at Hudson Coal on John's N.Y.C.T.L.) to arrive  on PC Extra 4348 powered by twin FP7s.

Watch Extra 4348 arrive and run through Selkirk in the video below.  It will continue on to Mechanicville via Rotterdam Junction.

The Extra now arrives at Mechanicville where the FP7s cut off and are replaced by a pooled power PC/B&M lashup that adds more loaded hoppers to the train for the Bow Power Plant in New Hampshire. These additional hoppers are from the Kings Port & Western's coal connection with the Lehigh Valley.  They arrived at Mechanicville from Selkirk yesterday after being pulled off train WV-1 which had picked them up at West Mill.

Air pressure and connections have been checked so the long Bow coal train is ready to depart Mechanicville.  Watch the train leave with a new caboose in the video below.

That concludes the Kings Port Division's role in this special coal op!  Thanks for following along and be sure to check out the action in John and Neal's blogs!

It’s a wrap! So much coal action happening! The train moving thru Selkirk with the hump yard in the background is a great scene and very realistic! That long coal train to the Bow Power Plant I think in my mind is making a first appearance.

    Way to go Ralph!

    1. Thanks Neal! This is the first time we thought about using the Bow train as a destination for some of the hoppers in this series. Credit to John for the idea.

A fine wrap up to your inbound / outbound portion of this coal op!! I liked seeing the Extra 43348 arriving at both Mechanicville and Selkirk. The power change and adding the coal hoppers from the 4348 to the LV/KP&W coal hoppers was well done and made for an impressive train heading for Rotterdam Jct and the Bow Power Plant. The B&M GP18 looked good in consist with the PC 3442 and 6552. Nice work Ralph!!! Put it in the books!!!
