P.C.C.M. 46D: The Latest Series Continues on the Kings Port Division

Greetings all!

Penn Central Car Movement Series #46 has started on John's New York Central Train Layout.
See his three posts about the gathering of cars and the dispatch of trains for this series:

http://newyorkcentrallayout.blogspot.com/2018/04/pccm-46c.html

Two trains were dispatched to Selkirk, one with a block of cars for West Mill on my layout.  That cut was then dispatched from Selkirk to West Mill as Extra 1871.

Railfans often haunt Ulster Ave in Kings Port.  Its a busy train watching location and Dave's Diner makes a handy lunch spot.

Extra !871, led by an F7A, F7B, GP38-2 consist crosses Ulster Ave. on its way to West Mill.

Our photographer missed the GP38-2 but his buddy with the 8mm video camera managed to catch it.  (See below).  RI #35062 is loaded with hardware for Quality Fabrications.

Two 38 foot hopper loads of coal for Corning Glass' power plant.

P&E #3638 is full of packaging materials for Cavendish Foods

The 86 ft. Auto Parts car is empty for ACME Auto Parts

Two empty coil cars for Kings Port Steel

Two gons of scrap wheels for Sal's Salvage

Two TOFC for Williams Yard.  Note the Empire Belt trailer!

TPFX #5510 and PC # 360158 are loaded with cabinets for Battaglia Bros. Warehouse

Bay window caboose in pre-merger scheme brings up the rear.

Here is a video of the train rolling over Ulster Ave. with a shot of the "Orange C" GP38-2!

Extra 1871 arrives at West Mill and slows to enter the yard.

As the train rolls by the two gons loaded with scrap wheels pass Sal's Salvage, their consignee.

Flanges squeal as 86 foot #67086 rounds the curve.

Entering the yard.   Relatively recent acquisition GP38-2 #8150 awaits assignment on one of the engine tracks while the yard switcher idles in the foreground.

Extra 1871 pulls all the way onto track one

The yard switcher pulls the caboose...

...while the crew exits the head end.

After the caboose is set on the caboose track, the yard switcher gets to work breaking up the train into two parts: a block for the Kings Port Turn, and a cut for transfer to the KP&W.  The cut is made between the auto parts car and one of the coil cars.

Pulling the Kings Port Turn cut.

While pulling this cut it was decided to separate the two gons for Sal's Salvage.  These two cars can be delivered by the yard switcher to the scrap yard just beyond the yard limits.

After sorting the cars, the switcher crew and Yardmaster Cappy Foster confer about moving the gons to Sal's.  Quick delivery of these cars has been encouraged by an offer Cappy"couldn't refuse"

The special move for Sal's Salvage gets underway.

The switcher's engineer is greeted by Sal Monella himself who refers to him as "my friend" and expresses appreciation for the quick delivery with a wink and a bottle of Cavendish Single Malt.

The two gons are set out at Sal's, "taking care of business"

That's more than enough for now!  Stay tuned as the Kings Port Turn is dispatched from West Mill.

    Terminal Yard out...

A very colorful lash up for Extra 1871! Who said the PC engines lacked color? Another nicely orchestrated well photographed installment with a superb video to boot. Really well done on this one Ralph! Cavendish Single Malt is the currency needed to do business in West Mill with those friends of ours.

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Great video! I enjoyed listening to the wheels grinding on those rails. Quite entertaining I might add. I hear that a request for some Cavendish Single Malt is going to be sent as there's going to be a new eatery coming to the outskirts of Rock Ridge Yard.

    1. Thanks Neal! I needed some tech assistance from John to include videos on my blog w/o posting them to YouTube. Now I'm smarter! Cavendish is always looking for new customers!!!

    Elkhart out.

Very well done segment and I’m liking the new GP38-2 roster additions. Cappy is keeping the local customers happy with his 5 Star service. Sal is a good neighbor by sharing some of that fine Cavendish Single Malt with Cappy. I’m with EE, enjoyed your audio enhancements with the video footage!
