P.C.C.M. 70B: Part 1

Hi everyone!

We're back at it, once again running "virtual operations" in what we call Penn Central Car Movements (P.C.C.M.s)!

Neal did a great job kicking off our 70th series earlier today by dispatching cars north from his Rock Ridge Yard, splitting the cuts for each layout into different trains.  See the action on his Atlantic Pacific R.R. blog

Once his A.P.R.R. trains reached Weehawken the Penn Central took over the trip up the River Line.  Cars for John's New York Central Train Layout and my Kings Port Division are being sent on separate trains.  Penn Central's Weehawken to Selkirk run (WV-2) will forward cars to John's Terminal Yard, while Penn Central Extra #3003 will bring cars directly to West Mill on my layout.

Watch WV-2 roll through West Mill first in the video below.  Watch for SD35 #6017 in PRR livery making its first appearance in a virtual ops series.:

The train continues on its way to Selkirk where cars will be forwarded to Terminal Yard.  Right behind WV-2 is Penn Central Extra #3003 with cars exclusively for West Mill, powered by two GP40s.

Watch Extra #3003 arrive in the video below:

After Extra #3003 passes the yard lead it stops under the GERN Industries tunnel so crews can align the switch for a back up move into West Mill Yard.

Backing up slowly thought the maze of switches at the yard throat.
The  nice looking NAHX covered hopper labelled for Corning is full of silica sand for Corning Glass

The ACFX covered hopper painted for Morton salt is loaded with salt for Cavendish Foods in Mayfield.  The black HRC boxcar contains restaurant supplies for Battaglia Brothers Warehouse while the two orange KP&W boxcars #30113 and 30115 (one is still in the tunnel) are begin returned empty to the KP&W's Williams Yard.

Two more KP&W boxcars, #644450 and 644455, are loaded with hardware for Quality Fabrications in Bloomberg.

As the train backs into West Mill Yard it is briefly diverted to a siding to set out the caboose.

Once the former New York Central bay window hack is set out the train then backs into the West Mill ladder tracks.

The twin GP40s are cut from the train.

And that concludes today's opening segment from West Mill.  Stay tuned to see the cars sorted into trains and dispatched to their respective consignees in future installments!
