P.C.C.M. 81: Part 2 on the KPD

 Hello again!

As we continue the "outbounds" part of our 81st Penn Central Car Movements series with John's New York Central Train Layout  and Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R. , along with my own Kings Port Division, we'll see more cars gather at West Mill Yard to be assembled into trains for the N.Y.C.T.L. and the A.P.R.R.

This installment will focus on the Kings Port & Western's involvement.   A KP&W transfer run from Mayfield Yard has arrived at West Mill but it is holding before taking the main.   Its waiting for the KP&W's daily "BiWi", the run from Binghamton to Williams Yard in Kings Port, officially designated as BiWi-4.

Watch the BiWi arrive in the video below:

After the BiWi comes to a stop the pooled KP&W/ B&O power pulls EBRR #360279 and PC #229046 from the train for set out at West Mill

Watch the BiWi drop off two cars and then leave in the video below

After the BiWi has cleared town the Mayfield Transfer is authorized to take the main to access West Mill's Yard entrance.   Follow the action in the video below:

The Mayfield transfer then backs into West Mill Yard in the video below:

One last bit of work to preform today at West Mill.  Switcher #8951 is sent out to bring in the two cars left by BiWi-4.

Shifting our focus over to the KP&W's Wiliams Yard, we see four TOFCs ready to be taken to the interchange track in Kings Port.

They will be joined on their short run to Kings Port by three cars arriving now on Extra 4233 from New England on the KP&W's connection with the B&M.

These three B&M RBLs loaded with veneers from Eastern States Plywood for University Milling will soon be added to the cut for the interchange.

...while Swift # 4244 loaded with frozen meat for C&P Restaurant Supply will be heading in the opposite direction on a transfer run to West Mill and eventually to Rock Ridge Yard.

The four TOFCs and the three RBLs are hauled to the Kings Port interchange.

The interchange run passes two cars recently set out from Blue Ribbon Flour.  PC #360158 is headed for Hostess while P&LE #35892 is taking bagged flour to Ralph's Grocery Warehouse. These two cars will be picked up by the Penn Central along with the others from Williams Yard.

The string of cars from Williams Yard is set out on the interchange, with care taken to keep Ulster Ave. open.

The last block of cars being set out on the interchange for the PC includes four loaded steel coil coaches and one gondola.   Two coaches and the gon are for Gervais Pipe and Fittings while the other two coaches are for the Ford Motor Co.

The steel loads join the other cars on the interchange and await pick up by the Penn Central.

The Swift reefer is tacked onto a Transfer to West Mill and is later seen at West Mill Yard.

That concludes the action for today as all cars to be forwarded to either the N.Y.C.T.L. or the A.P.R.R. have now arrived on the Kings Pot Division.  Watch tomorrow as trains are dispatched to the other two layouts!

    Terminal Yard out.

The Kings Port & Western is firing on all cylinders today and dominates the action! Nice seeing those B&O F7s on the BIWI-4, Extra 4233 with B&M pooled power, the KP&W S-12 in action and KP Steel #2 with a five car cut. There is a lot of freight traffic at West Mill to classify, block and dispatch! A very enjoyable post!!!

Looks like the yard guys have their hands full. The KP&W pair of engines working the yard are very impressive. Williams Yard backdrop in West Mill make the place look huge. I’m very impressed with your backdrops which have inspired me on some of my own….
