PCCM 93: Part 3 on the KPD (Inbounds)

 Welcome back my friends!

We're starting the inbound portion of our virtual ops this weekend.    Trains from John's New York Central Train Layout and Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R.  will be arriving today on my Kings Port Division with cars to be forwarded to their respective consignees.

Last week we saw the N.Y.C.T.L. dispatch train SK-7 to Selkirk with a classy F7 A-B-B-A consist!

The train can be seen arriving at Selkirk Yard in the video below.  After coming to a stop the four unit consist is cut off and sent to the Selkirk Engine facilities.

A pair of Southern R.R. bulkhead flatcars loaded with saw logs from Jackson Lumber was forwarded to Selkirk yesterday from Mechanicville.  The cars, destined for Half Moon Wholesale Lumber on the Kings Port Division, are added to the train.

Watch the new power, a surprising all former PRR SD35/F7B/F7A  lashup run ahead to couple to the head end and pull the train away.   This train is now designated as VWm-7 to West Mill Yard.

VWm-7 arrives at Kings Port.   The train will stop here to drop off cars for the Kings Port & Western.

The Kings Port Railfan Society shows up in their VW Bug to follow the action at their favorite viewing spot near Dave's Diner.  The guys like to claim that their VW  ride stands for "Selkirk to Weehawken"!

The train is cut behind the white LV NIRX #41000.  This car will be dropped off for the KP&W to forward along with the cars ahead of it.  Watch the cut for the KP&W get shoved backwards into Williams Yard in the video below:

The TOFCs are spotted at the unloading ramp in Williams Yard.

After waiting for the MOW train to clear, VWm-7 receives permission to proceed to West Mill.

An hour later VWm-7 arrives at West Mill Yard.  The Kings Port Railfan Society were somewhat casual about the speed limit during their race from Kings Port to catch the PRR consist at West Mill!

While VWm-7 enters the yard we can see the arrival of PC Train WV-2 from Weehawken to Selkirk in the background.  This transfer makes regular stops at West Mill to pick up or drop off cars.

WV-2 coasts to a stop in front of WM Tower.  The cars on this train are from Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R. and represent the largest number to be forwarded to the Kings Port Division from the APRR in a PCCM series! The long train stretches the length of West Mill from its UC28/UC33/GP38-2 consist...

...to the caboose at the other end of town.

WV-2 drops off cars at West Mill including APRR hopper #9416, empty for Hedberg Aggregates, six empty 2 bay cement hoppers, and two KP&W hoppers for the LV Coal Connection via Mayfield Yard. There are other cars on this train for the KP&W's Mayfield Yard but congestion at West Mill Yard prompts a decision to have them continue on the WV-2 to Kings Port where they will be cut for the KP&W's Williams Yard.

Watch the action in the video below:

After the consist returns to its train WV-2 receives permission to proceed to Kings Port and Selkirk.

That's it for today!  Tomorrow we'll follow WV-2's arrival at Selkirk and forward some cars to Mechanicville.

Great job starting the inbound port of the series Ralph!!! A really nice job choreographing three trains of PCCM cars moving north and south delivering our virtual ops cars to both the Penn Central West Mill Yard and the Kings Port & Western Williams Yard. Nice seeing the KPRS gang in their Selkirk - Weehawken Bug enjoying all the action and the cool locomotive selection. Excellent job all around!!

What a great start to the inbound. The PRR engines are definitely a nice surprise. I’m impressed that the APRR sent so many cars that I fill the yard! I wonder if the KPRS kept track and took pictures of this huge inbound train! Nice work Ralph!
