PCCM 93: Part 4 on the KPD

 Hello again virtual ops fans!

We're in the "inbound" phase in which we feature trains from John's New York Central Train Layout and Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R. arriving on the Kings Port Division hauling cars to forward to various businesses.

Yesterday we left off with PC Train WV-2 heading to Kings Port and then to Selkirk.  The train was composed of cars from Neal's APRR.   Some were dropped off at West Mill while others continued their journey to the interchange track with the Kings Port & Western at Kings Port.  Others will go all the way to Selkirk Yard.

WV-2 arrives at Kings Port headed by a UC28/UC33/GP38-2 consist.

After a few moves the two U Boats and the Geep shove a cut of cars onto the interchange with the KP&W.  The gon load of pipes is going to Williams Yard where it will be unloaded by the Hudson Valley Ag Coop.

The black Hoschton Railway car is from C&P Restaurant Supply for Battaglia Brothers Warehouse, the Coring hopper is loaded with silica from Pennsylvania Glass Sand for Corning Glass Co, PC plug door boxcar #160502 is also going to Battaglias from Three Amigos Warehouse, PC #360063 contains food packaging from C&P for Cavendish Foods....

...and the two PC corrugated gons are loaded with steel stock from Shapeless Steel for ACME Auto Parts.  Some of these cars will be forwarded on a Williams Yard to Mayfield Yard Transfer.  

After dropping off the cars at the interchange WV-2 heads to Selkirk!  Watch the train leave Kings Port and arrive at Selkirk in the video below:

Some of the cars sent by Neal's APRR will be forwarded to points west on PC Train VB-1 to Buffalo.  These include LV #8274 headed empty to Delco in Flint, MI. and LV #7120 which is going back empty to Frontier Yard for later forwarding to Heintz & Weber Co. of Buffalo.

 

 The red Triangle Pacific car will head to British Columbia via Buffalo as well.  The Swift reefer SRLX #4244 is returning to its home company in Lawrence, MA.  It will be forwarded to Mechanicville for the trip to New England....

  ...along with the three B&M RBLs returning to Merrimack, NH.

The cars at Mechanicville will head to New England on B&M Train MR-4 to Rigby. 

 Lets return now to West Mill Yard where several cars are waiting to be assigned to trains to take them to their consignees.  Yard switcher #8951 begins assembling cuts of cars.


Beginning with the next Bloomberg Turn, flat cars are coupled to either end of P&LE gon #40331 in preparation for its over sized load of telephone poles from Bell Pole

PC #360158 is headed for Zenith with a load of TV consoles from University Milllwork.  PC #104478 is carrying City Pallets for Woodstock Hills Natural Soda.


NYC #80755 is heading empty to Quality Fabrications on an intra-layout move while P&E #3638 is loaded with Drywell Ink for Catskill Mountain Press, completing the cut for Bloomberg.

 A caboose is tacked on the end of the cut now ready for its assigned power to take it up the mountain to Bloomberg.

The GP20 set assumes its regular responsibility of running the Bloomberg Turn.


The crew climbs aboard after the hostler coupled the consist to the Bloomberg Turn.

After receiving orders from WM Tower the Bloomberg Turn proceeds to the Mountain Branch.

 The Bloomberg Turn reaches Bloomberg Industrial Park around an hour later and starts delivering cars to local businesses.   PC #360158 loaded with Universal Millwork cabinets is delivered to Zenith TV.

PC #104478 loaded with pallets from City Pallet is spotted at Woodstock Hills Natural Soda.


P&E #3638 is set out at Catskill Mt. Press with a load of ink for their newspaper from Drywell Ink.

And finally, P&LE drop end gon #40331 is left at Bell Pole with two flat car spacers to receive an over sized load of telephone poles.

While switcher #8951 was busy assembling the Bloomberg Turn at West Mill its KP&W counterpart was hauling cars from the Kings Port interchange into Williams Yard. The pipe load in the EBRR gon is for the Hudson Valley Ag Coop.

The Hoschton Rwy boxcar is full of C&P Restaurant supplies for Battaglia Brothers Warehouse while the Corning covered hopper carrying Pennsylvania Glass Sand is heading to its home company.

PC boxcar #360063 carries C&P restaurant supplies for Cavendish Foods and the two PC gons of steel stock are for ACME Auto Parts.

After the cars are set out in Williams Yard the switcher begins assembling two trains, a transfer for Mayfield Yard and a WiBi (Williams Yard to Binghamton) Transfer.


The pipe load in the EBRR gon is set out at an unloading platform...

Later in the afternoon things seem quiet at West Mill but that is about to change as two KP&W trains depart, one shortly after the other.  

Watch a KP&W F Unit parade as WiBi-4 is closely followed by the Mayfield Transfer, both powered by the first generation covered wagons!

WiBi-4 rolls through West Mill!

The WiBi reaches Binghamton later in the day.  The train is broken down and a KP&W local is sent out the next morning.  It delivers three cars of silica sand to Corning Glass Company.  The NYC Hi Cube #173861 seen in the background was forwarded to Corning Glass empty from IBM as an intra-layout move.

In another intra-layout move three PC RBLs were forwarded from IBM to International Paper Company.

The two LV cars that were seen on the WiBi, NIRX #41000 and LV #66392 were returned to the LV from Binghamton.

    Another fine action packed installment Ralph!!! Both the PC and KP&W shared the spotlight today with a neat cameo by the B&M GP18!!! Train WV-2 looked good handling its work and delivering the PCCM cars to Selkirk before outlawing. The NY-20 made the connection to B&M MR-4 (nice touch adding that!!). Bloomberg looks great along with the GP20s . The KP&W F units on back to back trains was nice to see as was the #22 working the KP Interchange track. A very enjoyable post that covered a lot of upstate NY with easy to read and follow documentation. Very impressive all around!

    Rock Ridge Yard out!

    Wow! Lots of freight action coming in and out of both west Mill and Kings Port. Your creative scene involving Selkirk only adds to the action as you capture true train movements. The additional outbound trains (MR-4 & NY-20) add more action to the virtual ops bringing in more destinations that can serve many railroads. The action up in Binghamton and the many industries is nice to watch. The Bloomberg Industrial Park action was non-stop with all of the inbound freight. Nice work Ralph!
