Hello once again!
We're continuing our 96th Pen Central Car Movements series moving freight cars across three layouts; John's New York Central Train Layout, Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R. , and my own Kings Port Division.
In yesterday's first installment several cars arrived at West Mill Yard via the carfloat from Port Owen, a Southbound Local, and a KP&W Mayfield Transfer. Its still the same day in my second installment when the Bloomberg Turn that was dispatched at 07:30 this morning is now seen returning at 11:50.
The train is holding for the imminent arrival of KP&W BiWi-4 (Binghamton to Williams Yard) which is scheduled to stop and set out cars for West Mill. The Bloomberg Turn will have to wait until this work is competed before being able to access the yard. The crew goes to beans at Mussachia's Italian Ristorante, an easy walk from this junction.
Watch the BiWi arrive at 12:05 in the video below:
The cut is made behind the NYC double door boxcar. The cars remaining behind it will be continuing to the KP&W's Williams Yard near Kings Port.
Watch the BiWi set out the cut for West Mill in the video below:
After the set out the two KP&W F7As return to their train and continue on to Williams Yard.
The Bloomberg Turn's crew has excellent timing returning from lunch with only a few minutes to wait before receiving permission to access the main once the BiWi clears town.
Watch the Bloomberg Turn enter West Mill Yard in the video below. The virtual ops cars on this train are the brown P&E boxcar #3638 loaded with REVCO kitchen gadgets for Ralph's Grocery Warehouse and KP&W #6444450 & 644455 empty for Woodstock Hills Natural Soda.
The yard is filling up but we're still anticipating the return of the Northbound Local with more cars!
14:35 The Northbound Local returns to West Mill with cars from as far as the PC/KP&W interchange at Kings Port. The train had to hold for BiWi-4 before being able to proceed to West Mill.
It picked up a NYC covered hopper from Blue Ribbon Flour for Empire Grain (intra-layout move) and PS2 hoppers; KP&W #445052 and PC #883190 loaded with fine aggregate for the NY State DOT...
Three tankers of Gulf diesel fuel for Terminal Yard...
...and empty depressed well flat PC #766053 for ACCO (intra-layout move). The caboose is cut so the local make final pick ups at GERN
PC boxcar #104478 loaded with GERN Cement Flux is for Lombo Concrete which is served by the LIRR connection on John's layout.
Two older PRR gons of shredded scrap from Sal's Salvage will also be pulled.
Watch the pickups in the video below:
Those are all of the cars to be gathered at West Mill for the "outbound" portion of our current series! Come back tomorrow as trains are dispatched to send cars to John's and Neal's layouts!

Terminal Yard out!!!
To quote Chief Brody, "you're going to need a bigger yard"! West Mill yard has indeed filled up as the PCCM freight traffic in and around the Catskills is running heavy in PCCM 96!!! I see a lot of work for the NYCTL crews in the near future! Another well done easy to follow and enjoy installment Ralph!!! I'm looking forward to the next post!!!

Rock Ridge Yard out!
There’s a lot of freight cars coming to West Mill from many areas on both the KP&W and PC railroads. That’s a nice touch putting time stamps on the action. Some great pics of the yard shows the capacity it can handle. Now I must say that scrap yard photo really stands out. I’ve seen it in the past, but this photo makes it stand out.
Nice work Ralph!
