PCCM 101: Part 5 on the KPD

 Hello again!

We are continuing the "inbound" portions of our 101st virtual ops series as John's New York Central Train Layout,  Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R., and my own Kings Port Division exchange cars on each others' layouts.

All incoming trains for this series from the APRR and the N.Y.C.T.L. have arrived on the Kings Port Division.  Now its time to forward those cars to their respective consignees.

Crews at West Mill are busy assembling a transfer run to the KP&W's Williams Yard while also putting together a cut of cars for the next Cement Job to Tri Mount Cement.

The Transfer to Williams Yard will include virtual ops cars EBBR #509823 carrying pipe for HVAC,  two PC gon loads of scrap for KP Steel, and PC # 160502 (Seen earlier two photos above) loaded with cutting machines from Reliable Machine for International Paper Co.

Once fully assembled the short transfer leaves West Mill behind Penn Central GP7 #5688.

Meanwhile over at Williams Yard, their KP&W counter parts are putting together the next WiBi-4 (Williams Yard to Binghamton transfer).  Virtual ops cars on this run include LV #66392 and LV NIRX #41000 both returning empty to the Lehigh Valley at "Bingo" and EBRR #360279 carrying cutting machines for International Paper from Reliable Machine.

Local train watchers the Kings Port Railfan Society learned about an upcoming meet between the Penn Central transfer from West Mill and the KP&W WiBi-4.  They have a friend in KP Tower who told them that Ulster Ave. is the likely location for the meet.

The guys are gratified to hear that the KP&W will be utilizing a pair of leased B&O F7As on the next WiBi.  The KP&W interchanges with the B&O at Binghamton.  These units came from Binghamton powering a BiWi-3 to Williams Yard in some non-PCCM action. The WiBi is dispatched from Williams Yard and meets the Penn Central's Williams Yard Transfer at Ulster Ave.

The Penn Central Transfer from West Mill arrives at Williams Yard.

Continuing its journey to Binghamton the WiBi passes West Mill as SD9 #6922 as works the car float, loading virtual ops cars EL #73510 and NYC #47062 both loaded with bagged iron ore from T&R Gravel for Port Owen Brick Co.  Non-player flats of electrical equipment for the Con Ed Power Plant join them on the barge.

Later, after arriving at Binghamton and being placed on a local, EBRR #360279 is set out at International Paper Co.

Returning our attention back to West Mill, the carfloat is ready to cast off for Port Owen.

The Cement Job is now ready to go with a string of covered hoppers for Tri Mount Cement forwarded from Neal's APRR....

...powered by GP9  #7085 in its pre-merger scheme.

The Engineer picks up the orders from WM Tower...

and the train is dispatched from West Mill.

The cement hoppers are later set out at Tri Mount Cement

After the Cement Job left town Switcher #8951 focused on assembling a Bloomberg Turn that will serve industries in the Catskills.

The switcher pulls the string of six cars heading up the mountain.  West Mill Yard only dispatches the Bloomberg Turn if there are at least five cars for the train.  The two covered hoppers for Agway are non-player cars to fill in the switchlist.  Watch the action as GP38-2 #8510 couples to the train and takes it on the branch line to Bloomberg while power used for the Williams Yard Transfer returns to West Mill.

Bloomberg area set outs include KP&W boxcars  #30112 and 30115 empty at Zenith TV.

...an old NYC Pacemaker empty to Quality Fabrications...

....and P&LE gondola #40331 empty to Bell Pole.  The two non-player covered hoppers were also set out at Agway across the tracks

That's it for today!

Did I miss anything?!!! Another day of intense railroad action on the Kings Port Division!!! Once again a well done and documented series of car movements and trains that were a pleasure to watch and follow along with. It was nice to see the KPRS guys back in their hometown catching the B&O power in WiBi-4. The railfan grapevine before the internet is alive and well! Also nice to see conductor Fingers O'Malley seen on the Bloomberg Turn. Another excellent post and I look forward to the next installment!!!

That was a nice meet at Ulster Ave. with the KPRS getting a prime viewing location! I enjoyed the loading of the car float with the transformers and box car. Great work with PC 8150 making the deliveries for Bloomberg. The cement hoppers from the APRR to Tri mount will need a quick turnaround before the weather gets too cold to pour cement in the NJ area!!

Looking forward to the next moves!
