PCCM 101 Part 6 on the KPD

 Hello again!

We are continuing the "inbound" portions of our 101st virtual ops series as John's New York Central Train Layout,  Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R., and my own Kings Port Division exchange cars on each others' layouts.

Three trains were dispatched from West Mill in yesterday's installment. The last train of this series to leave West Mill today is a Penn Central Transfer to the KP&W's Mayfield Yard.   Cars are really being scattered to the four winds from West Mill in this series!

The transfer to Mayfield includes KP&W short hoppers #233 and #234 sent empty from Neal's RMO electric CO. to be loaded at a coal mine served by the Lehigh Valley, a KP&W boxcar from American Hardware to ACCO...

Penn Central gondola #288673 and depressed well flatcar #766053 also for Amalgamated Container Co....

...and KP&W boxcars #644450 & 644455 which are being forwarded empty to Peerless Appliance.

The yard switcher shoves a caboose for the transfer.

Watch the transfer get its caboose and power before leaving West Mill and meeting a work train coming from Weehawken.

Lets switch over to follow action at the KP&W's Williams Yard.

The tail end of a Williams Yard Transfer ready to go to Mayfield Yard can be seen in front of the railroad's large headquarters building

The Transfer's head end is seen below with the three 60 foot auto parts cars that will eventually be forwarded to ACME Auto Parts.   The transfer caboose in front of it is on a Yard Local that will serve Kings Port Industries like Battaglia Brother's Warehouse and Reynolds Beverage Distributors.  Both will be dispatched soon.

The gons loaded with scrap will be put on a Steel Job for KP Steel.

Before the transfer to Mayfield and the Yard Local are dispatched the first move at Williams Yard will to place another load of pipes for the Hudson Valley Agricultural COOP by the truck loading platform.

Watch the combined action as the Empire Belt gon #509823 loaded with pipe is set out,
GP9 #742 couples up to the Yard Local and leaves, and the transfer run to Mayfield departs pulled by a rumbling RS3 #566.

As the Transfer Run heads to Mayfield we'll follow the Yard Local setting out P&LE boxcar #35892 at Reynolds Beverage Distributors with products from Star Liquor,

The remaining three cars are for Battaglia Brothers Warehouse...

...which is accessed by an industrial spur on the lower level past Blue Ribbon Flour.

The two NYC double door boxcars are loaded with Ideal Toys. The PC plug door boxcar #160502 is full of materials to store from Three Amigos Warehouse on Neal's layout.  The caboose is set aside and the cars are shoved toward the warehouse.

The Geep and caboose return to Williams Yard after the set outs.

The last of the three trains leaving Williams Yard is the Steel Job with its scrap gons for KP Steel seen below awaiting their delivery.

Watch the Steel Job with three green Penn Central virtual ops gons and two nonplayer cars head out of Williams Yard behind S12 #34 and arrive later at KP Steel.

Let's head over to Mayfield where the KP&W transfer from Williams Yard we saw dispatched above is arriving closely followed by the Penn Central Transfer that was dispatched from West Mill at the beginning of this installment

The Mayfield crew pulled the two 38 foot KP&W hoppers and added them to a block to be interchanged with the Lehigh Valley.

The other cars have been assembled as the Mayfield Industrial Job serving ACME Auto Parts, Peerless Appliance, and Amalgamated Container Co. (ACOC).

The KP&W's chronic power shortage leads the Mayfield engine yard to provide a surprising aging C Liner/ F7A lashup for this run.  Watch it couple to the train and take it out of the yard in the video below.

The Mayfield Industrial Job sets out cars at Peerless Appliance...

Amalgamated Container Co...

..and ACME Auto Parts.

That wraps up the action for today!  I'll post an Epilogue installment tomorrow to follow the delivery of the remaining three PCCM cars at West Mill.

A first ballot PCCM Hall of Fame post for sure!!! Just when I thought Williams Yard was the place to be for all of the freight traffic and interesting moves the trip to Mayfield blew that out of the water! Having both the KP&W and PC transfer runs arrive one after the other was a great idea. The Mayfield Industrial Job with the C-Liner and F7A was a railfans dream no matter what the scale!!! I bet the KPRS guys are kicking themselves for missing this one!!! Back to Williams Yard the Steel Job with the S12 was another great sequence of car movements. I need to stop gushing and I'm eager to see what the final post will contain. This one is going to be tough to beat!!!
