Continuing our coverage of Penn Central Car Movement series #65, this time involving John's New York Central Train Layout and my Kings Port Division, its time for cars sent from John's Terminal Yard to arrive on my layout.
09:40- Things are quiet at Kings Port until the rumble of EMD locomotives breaks the silence heralding the arrival of Extra #3007.
This train is hauling cars that were dispatched on PC Train LS-1 from Terminal Yard to Elkhart with a stop at Selkirk. Power for the run to Elkhart was changed out and the original consist headed by GP40 #3007 was assigned to take the cut removed at Selkirk for the KPD southbound to West Mill.
These cars will be set out at West Mill, some of them interchanging with the Kings Port & Western R.R. there.
The three TOFCs (two w/o trailers) and the PC gon loaded with pipe will be set out here on an interchange track for the KP&W to pick up and transport to its Williams Yard outside of Kings Port.
The train pulls forward so the last car (PC gondola #288673) is beyond the switch leading to the interchange track.
The caboose is cut to allow the block of four cars to be backed into the KP&W interchange.
Watch the action in the video below:
10:55: The cars for Williams Yard are set out and Extra #3007 leaves town.
12:15 We are at Hedberg Aggregates in Marion where two hoppers are awaiting pickup by a local run from West Mill.
A short way freight picks up the two loaded hoppers at Hedberg and moves on an hour ahead off Extra #3007 in the video below:
14:25 The way freight has arrived at West Mill and its NYC GP30 has left the train to be serviced.
The caboose has also been pulled for service.
15:30 Extra #3007 arrives at West Mill
The Extra pulls into West Mill Yard...
...passing the cars that were on the short local.
The crew ties up Extra #3007 at 16:45 with cars from Terminal Yard to be forwarded to local industries and the KP&W's branch lines from West Mill
Meanwhile, back at Kings Port, the KP&W is in the process of picking up the four cars left on their interchange track with the Penn Central. A pair of SW9s from Williams Yard crawls out from below the overpass.
...crosses Ulster Ave....
...grabs the gon and three TOFCs....
...and pulls them to Williams Yard.
The switchers pass by the B&M consist appropriated by the KP&W in the last series. It is getting ready to head home to Massachusetts.
That's all for now. Watch for a Penn Central "Turn" out of West Mill next time!

Terminal Yard out...
Nice work Ralph!!! Glad to see the 3007 took the hurdle south to West Mill! Nice pair of videos enhancing the action. The B&M may be filing a theft report for those engines! Nice sign in the last photo! Well done and very enjoyable to read and watch!
Thought I'd do a little advertising for Neal's baking company and my favorite chocolate chip cookies as a kid!

Update - Work still continues on the line between Weehawken and Rock Ridge. A call from the management team at Freihofer Bakeries has seen the new sign above Williams Yard, and they thank you. We've been given instructions for a 'package' (okay more like a pallet) of Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies to be delivered to the KP&W Executive team.
APRR HQ Out!
