We're starting our first Penn Central Car Movement Series (P.C.C.M.) of 2020! This one will be our 68th virtual ops exchange of freight cars from layout to layout. John R.'s New York Central Train Layout (N.Y.C.T.L.) and my Kings Port Division will be dispatching cars to each other this weekend. We are also sending cars to Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR as well!
Today, on the Kings Port Division, we'll follow the gathering of cars for this op. Most will be sent to West Mill Yard to be assembled into a train to Selkirk and eventually to Terminal Yard on John's N.Y.C.T.L. Some cars, however, will need to be picked up at Kings Port on the way North.
Speaking of those cars in Kings Port, three boxcars that were loaded at Blue Ribbon Flour have been pulled by the Kings Port & Western R.R. and placed on the interchange track with the Penn Central. Blue Ribbon Flour is seen below.
The three cars are B&M RBLs #109 &110, loaded with bagged flour for Hostess and the brown P&LE 40 foot boxcar #35892 loaded with packaged cake mixes for Ralph's Grocery Warehouse.
Two additional cars are placed on the interchange track by a couple of KP&W "pups" . These Evans Breadbox Trough steel coil cars were loaded at KP Steel for Ford Motor Co. All five will later be picked up by a train headed to Selkirk.
Meanwhile, empty BAR 40 ft boxcar #5226 is pulled by GP9 #7175 from Reynolds Beverage Distributors to be forwarded to the KP&W's Williams Yard near Kings Port.
It later finds itself on a B&M train out of Williams Yard and will eventually be delivered to Circle B Farms in Caribou, Maine to be loaded with blueberries.
The B&M connects with the KP&W's Williams Yard just outside of Kings Port. B&M "Bluebird" power in the form of F7A # 4233 and GP9# 1701 prepare to take the head end of the train.
The BAR car will soon be on its way north.
Not too far away, at the Gulf Facility on the river, GM&O boxcar #21129 is being loaded with drums of oil for Terminal Yard's Engine Facility.
Tank car WRMX #14285 coupled to the boxcar has been filled with diesel fuel for the Morris Park engine yard on the LIRR.
Cars coming from farther away include Empire Belt R.R. 50 ft plug door boxcar #360279 loaded with office machines from IBM in Binghamton, NY. The KP&W has collected this car and will forward it to West Mill Yard for interchange with the Penn Central. The EBRR car is making its first appearance on the KPD courtesy of the fine craftsmanship and generosity of John R.!
Three NYC double door boxcars are loaded with Peerless Appliances for All City Storage in Empire City. These cars will be forwarded to West Mill from the KP&W's Mayfield Yard.
Two PS-2 covered hoppers of crushed aggregate are loaded at Hedberg Aggregates for Suffolk Cement Products. PC #883190 on the right is another fine recent addition provided by John!
Closer to West Mill, PC boxcar #104478 has been loaded at the large GERN plant with bags of cement flux for Lombo Cement
The car is pulled by one of West Mill's Yard Switchers for the short run to the yard.
Already sitting in West Mill Yard are LV cars #7120 and #8247. The reefer on the left is loaded with pickles and mustard from Buffalo's famous Heintz and Weber Co. for Bohack Foods. The car on the right has what remains of a load of Freihofers chocolate chip cookies that are heading to Pilgrim State Hospital after the West Mill crew munched down the pallet sent to them by the A.P.R.R. in appreciation for their efforts in assisting with a recent derailment south of Weehawken. Hopefully they left the rest intact!
Those are the cars for the N.Y.C.T.L. this time. Only one car is scheduled to be forwarded to the A.P.R.R.'s Rock Ridge Yard in this series. Hoschton Railway Co. 40 foot boxcar #945367 was pulled from Reynolds Beverage the other day loaded with beer and wine for C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge.
Expediting this shipment, West Mill's crew puts it on the next run to Weehawken, seen being assembled on the middle track below.
A caboose is attached to the rear and SD9 #6922 is called to pull the cars out so their assigned consist can couple up to the head end.
Watch the SD9 rather quickly haul this string of cars out of the yard. The yard crew knows they are running a little late today! Hopefully no bottles were broken in the HRC car's shipment!
The cars are set out for Penn Central F7A #1805 and B unit #3442 to pick them up for the run to Weehawken.
The crew boards the lead locomotive and prepares to couple up with their train.
Watch the classic "Black-dipped" A-B lashup leave the engine track and couple to their train in the video below:
Watch the powered train, now designated Extra #1805 Southbound, leave West Mill:
Extra #1805 leaves West Mill. Next stop is Weehawken!
The HRC car will eventually be forwarded from Weehawken to Rock Ridge by the A.P.R.R. for delivery to C&P Restaurant supply.
That's it for today. Take a look tomorrow as the cars for John's N.Y.C.T.L. are dispatched from West Mill on a northbound train.

Nice start to 2020! Gotta love the switchers! I always enjoy the pics from the larger industries like GERN and Peerless. Your engines are definitely getting a workout this early in the season!
Great looking start to P.C.C.M. 68 and 2020 on the K.P.D.! I'm enjoying your growing interchange with the B&M. Really extends the reach of the layout. Always fun to see the PC and KP&W work the industries along the K.P.D!
