P.C.C.M. 68: Part 4 on the KPD, Cars arrive

Hi all!

Last weekend we featured posts about cars being dispatched to each other's layout.  This weekend we are showing cars arriving on our layouts that will eventually be forwarded to their consignees.   John R. has sent 15 cars to the Kings Port Division from his New York Central Train Layout .   We'll railfan in Kings Port as those cars arrive today on Extra #3003 from Selkirk.

The train is headed by a GP40/ GP40/GP30 consist.

With a combined 8250 HP the train glides into Kings Port with two empty coil cars for KP Steel that will be loaded for Ford Motor Co.

Three TOFCs for the Kings Port & Western's Williams Yard.

PC 50 ft. plug door boxcar #360158 loaded with furniture from Superior Furniture for Battaglia Brothers Warehouse followed by an aging former NYC Pacemaker loaded with burlap bags from Moore & Co. for Bloomberg's Agway.

Three 60 foot empty auto parts cars for ACME Auto Parts.

Empty 86 foot auto parts car NYC #67086 also for ACME

More oversized rolling stock in the form of Penn Central Hi Cube #272242 loaded with electrical equipment for Peerless Appliance from Bruce Electric.

Followed by IC #30130 and NYC Hi Cube #173861 which are both loaded with beer for Reynolds Beverage Distributors.  The Hi Cube is appropriately loaded with "tall neck" bottles!

The last car is this NYC covered hopper, empty for Empire Grain.

The train will be setting out six cars at the Kings Port interchange with the KP&W.  The block is cut from the rest of the train behind PC 360158.

The locomotives pull the block of cars ahead of the interchange entrance so they can be pushed back in.

A brakeman throws the switch for the interchange track.

Watch Extra 3003 back the cut of cars into the interchange track for the KP&W  in the video below:

The KP&W cut has been set out in two parts to keep Ulster Ave. open for traffic.

Watch Extra 3003 leave Kings Port with the remaining cars for West Mill Yard in the video below:

Shortly after Extra 3003 leaves a KP&W truck appears to supervise the movement of these cars into Williams Yard.

While the KP&W prepares their move in Kings Port the Penn Central's Extra #3003 arrives at West Mill

Watch the train come into West Mill Yard in the video below:

The Penn Central crew will tie up Extra #3003 at West Mill and leave it to the yard switchers to sort its cars into a local PC run and trains for the KP&W.    And don't forget about those cars at Kings Port for the KP&W!  Stay tuned!

Well done Ralph!!!! Extra 3003 sported a fine looking power consist that photographed and video taped extremely well. Nice job setting the inbound portion stage in both Kings Port & West Mill. Seeing and reading about the NYC Hi Cube carrying the tall neck beers still makes me chuckle! Great photos and videos abound and I appreciate seeing the KP&W work truck!😊 Looking forward to the next installment!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Nice work Ralph. Hi cube box cars always 'stand out' as they were a little unique during that period. Now most larger box cars have the high cube capacity. The tall neck bottles and the Hi-Cube box car? Perfect!

Looking forward to the wrap up!
