Hello again!
We're continuing our first Penn Central Car Movement series of 2023 between John's New York Central Train Layout and my own Kings Port Division.
The freight cars that were shown arriving at West Mill in my two previous posts are now being assembled into a train for Selkirk that will be designated as WmV-6. Yard switcher #8951 is assigned the job of building the train.
Three auto parts cars for Ford in Bedford Park, a PC boxcar with soda for Ralph's Grocery Warehouse, a PC depressed well flat with a tank for Olin Matheson Chemical, and a Cargill covered hopper loaded with flour for Ronzoni are coupled up to eight empty hoppers for Hudson Coal. Watch the action in the video below:
These two 86 foot auto parts cars are heading to a Ford plant in Somerville MA. They will be placed at the end of the train for easy removal when they arrive at Selkirk.
Watch the switcher couple the hoppers and assorted freight cars to the 86 footers in the video below:
After all of the cars in the manifest have been assembled the switcher tacks on the caboose. The crew gets a good look at the river.
Power will be supplied by an FP7/F7B/FP7 consist that has become increasingly popular in runs between West Mill and Terminal Yard. It can be seen heading to its train in the video below:
The train, now officially designated as WmV-6 (West Mill to Selkirk), receives permission to leave the yard and access the mainline.
While the train heads north lets take note of action at Mechanicville and Selkirk that is related to our current PCCM. At Mechanicville four TOFCs and LV boxcar #66392 are seen leaving on BM-17, a transfer run to Selkirk.
The cars arrive at Selkirk later in the day. Green LV boxcar #66392 is loaded with bagged cement from Westcott Concrete in Lakeport, NH for American Hardware Supply in Bedford Park.
The four TOFCs are heading to Terminal Yard.
The five cars will be picked up by Train WmV-6 which is seen arriving at Selkirk in the video below. The TOFCs are pulled from a siding to be coupled to the rear of the train, and then the train is cut to locate the LV boxcar in an appropriate block for Terminal Yard.
The LV boxcar is pulled from the siding and added to the train behind the three auto arts cars.
Before the four TOFCs are coupled to the rear of the train, the two 86 foot auto parts cars
are pulled off. They will be forwarded to Mechanicville on the next transfer. From there they will later be seen leaving Mechanicville for Boston on B&M train MB-4. (below)
The train to Terminal Yard, still powered by the FP7/F7B/FP7 set, is now designated as TY-2. Watch it depart Selkirk for Terminal Yard in the video below:
That concludes the "outbound" segments from the Kings Port Division in this series. Come back next weekend to see an inbound train arrive from John's N.Y.C.T.L. with plenty of cars for KPD crews to forward to their consignees!

An excellent conclusion to the outbound portion!!! Photos, videos and narrative tell an easy and fun to follow storyline that brings all of the various PCCM freight cars from the northeast together for dispatch into a single train. There are a lot of moving parts to these PCCMS and your installments move along very well!!! A real treat to see all of the action so well presented. Way to Go Ralph!!!

The moves in and around Selkirk look real good. I like the PC consist that headed out of West Mill to Selkirk with the eventual destination of Terminal Yard. Nice additional action for other destinations!
Great work Ralph!
