Hello virtual ops fans!
We're into our second weekend of installments for this 98th virtual ops between John's New York Central Train Layout and my own Kings Port Division.
Yesterday we saw cars from John's Terminal Yard, along with some transfers from Mechanicville, arrive at Williams Yard in Kings Port and West Mill Yard on train VWm-5. They are now being sorted at both yards to be added to trains that will deliver them to various consignees.
Checking in at West Mill we see PC boxcar #229046 which is waiting to be forwarded empty to International Paper via the next WiBi-4 (Williams Yard to Binghamton Transfer).
Watch the yard's switcher set #229046 out for the WiBi to pick up.
Meanwhile at the Kings Port & Western's Williams Yard the expected WiBi is about to leave. Watch its twin F7A power depart from the Williams Yard engine house prior to pulling the train out of Kings Port.
The train will soon cross Ulster Ave, a popular railfan hot spot in Kings Port.
Watch WiBi-4 leave Kings Port and arrive at West Mill. Virtual ops cars on the WiBi include PC #160502 and Rock Island #35062, both loaded with hardware from American Hardware for IBM, and Empire Belt boxcar #36279 loaded with cardboard processing machines for International Paper.
After stopping at West Mill the consist is cut from the train to pick up PC boxcar #229046
Watch the pick up and see WiBi-4 leave West Mill in the video below:
The next day, after being sorted at Binghamton and sent out on local trains, the virtual ops cars brought in by the WiBi arrive at their respective destinations.
RI #35062 and PC #160502 are spotted at IBM
...and EBRR #36279 and PC #229046 are left at International Paper.
Returning now to Williams Yard in Kings Port a pair of KP&W GP9s prepare to run the Yard Local serving industries in Kings Port.
Watch the Yard Local's power leave the engine house, couple to its cut of cars and head out toward Kings Port in the video below:
The Yard Local's crew groaned when they received their switch list that includes both pick-ups and set-outs at the siding shared by the town's Team Track, Reynolds Beverage Distributors, and Booms Ready Mix... AND...a set out at the Gulf facility.
This work always involves a lot of moves. Follow along as the Yard Local crew gets the job done!
After the HRC car is set out, the Yard Local reconnects to LV NIRX #41000 and TPFX #5510...
and moves them to switch Blue Ribbon Flour and Battaglia Bros. Warehouse. The TPFX car is loaded with wood products for Battaglia Bros.Warehouse while the LV car, loaded with printed cartons from Berk Enterpises will be spotted at Blue Ribbon Flour.
Lower level loading docks for both industries are located beyond the overpass, to the left of the green PC Tower that monitors the nearby interchange track. The TPFX and LV cars get the shove....
After these last two set-outs the Yard Local returns to Williams Yard with its "non-player" pick ups. Watch it meet a Steel Job for KP Steel coming out of the yard.
The Steel Job consists of five empty Evans Steel Coil Coaches that were forwarded from Pier 16 near Terminal Yard. They will be set out at KP Steel.
Watch the Steel Job arrive in the video below:
A pair of steel plant hustlers push the coil cars into mill buildings for loading.
We'll stop here for today. Come back tomorrow and we'll see what's happening over at West Mill as we near the conclusion of this series!

BiWi-4 is a very cool train to follow!!! I like the Williams Yard departure, interchange at West Mill and move to Bingo. Lots of good PCCM and non player cars with an F unit lash up make it interesting to follow along with. You know I enjoyed seeing the 8951 at work in West Mill!! The overworked Yard Local was a nice refence and I can imagine the grumbling! They did do a nice job though. The Steel Job is another favorite as are the KP Steel switchers and the whole KP Steel scene. Well done once again Ralph!!!
