PCCM 103: Part 2 on the KPD

 Greetings!

We're running our 103rd Penn Central Car Movements (PCCMs)  between John's New York Central Train Layout, Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R., and my own Kings Port Division.    Cars are gathering at West Mill Yard as usual.   SW9 #8951 is working hard to sort blocks of cars to forward to the N.Y.C.T.L. and the APRR.  We catch it pulling a string for Neal's APRR headed by the Corning covered hopper that will eventually be sent to Pennsylvania Glass Sand.

The cut for the APRR also includes KP&W cars for Three Amigos Warehouse from Peerless Appliance and Zenith TVs.

Watch the cut for the APRR get set out on a siding for the next VW-1 from Selkirk to pick up.  While the cars are being set out a transfer from Mayfield Yard arrives with more PCCM cars.

Not long after the cars for the APRR are set out on the siding the next VW-1 arrives from Selkirk to take them to Weehawken.  The train also drops off cars for West Mill including two MEC bulkhead flats with pulpwood for Half Moon Wholesale Lumber and a Dresser Magcobar car loaded with Bentonite for Bloomberg's Agway.

After making the set out at West Mill the U33C/GP38/U28C consist prepares to leave for Weehawken.

VW-1 is cleared to Weehawken!

SW9 #8951 rolls out to bring the cut left by VW-1into the yard.

We'll leave the switcher to finish its work at West Mill and head over to Kings Port to check out the action at the KP&W's Williams Yard.   RS3 #566 is seen at the head end of another transfer run to West Mill consisting of the cars from Hedberg Aggregates.

After being dispatched from Williams Yard the transfer is seen crossing Ulster Ave where the maintenance crew is still working on the crossing lights!  When the transfer arrives at West Mill it enters the yard just as a "Cement Job" from Tri Mount cement arrives with PS2 hoppers.

The Cement Job stops near WM Tower to make the back up move into the yard.

The cement hoppers are shoved into West Mill Yard.

The six cement hoppers are scheduled to be delivered to a consignee in Binghamton so they will be picked up by the Next WiBi-4 dispatched from Williams Yard in Kings Port.

The WiBi arrives later in the day headed by a pair of the KP&W's stable of F7As.

The consist uncouples from the train to make the pick up...

,,,grabs the cement hoppers...

...and adds them to the front of the train.

After the couplings are checked, hoses connected, and the air pumped up the WiBi-4 leaves for Binghamton!

That concludes today's action.  Come back tomorrow as a train is dispatched to Selkirk with cars for John's N.Y.C.T.L.!

Another finely choreographed installment Ralph!!! The Kings Port Division dispatchers showed a good amount of finesse as they kept all the trains mowing in and out of the division on schedule. The KP&W continues to be an important source of PCCM traffic. Enjoyed the various lash ups in this episode and the U-Boat-GP38-U-Boat comes in first in today's railfan poll! I like the Cement Job with ex PRR power as well.
