PCCM 103: Part 4

Hello again!

After dispatching trains to each other's layouts last week we're starting our "inbound" installments in which freight cars are seen arriving  between John's New York Central Train Layout, Neal's Atlantic Pacific R.R., and my own Kings Port Division.

We're at Selkirk waiting for the arrival of two trains from Terminal Yard.   The first, Extra 4348, a unit coal train of hoppers from Hudson Coal, will be arriving momentarily.

Extra 4348 arrives and runs through Selkirk headed by a pair of FP7s while train EV-4 from Enola, PA arrives at the yard.

After passing through Selkirk the coal train heads south.  We're at Ulster Ave. in Kings Port waiting for Extra 4348 to arrive.

The Extra arrives and pulls a cut of hoppers off the train for the KP&W's Williams Yard.

After the units return to the train the crew checks connections.

Extra 4348 leaves for West Mill.

The second train from John's Terminal Yard is SK-5 with a mixed manifest for Williams Yard and West Mill.  The train's consist got past our videographer but he did catch an F7A/GP9B/F7A set heading to its assignment in the opposite direction as the typical power for a train on the old Boston & Albany line out of Selkirk.

The three B&M RBLs and the Swift reefer at the head end of SK-5 will be forwarded empty to Mechanicville along with BAR #5226 and LV #66392 which came in earlier on previous trains.

After cars were sent over the hump for classification a new train for the Kings Port Division designated VKW-3 (Selkirk-Kings Port-West Mill) is being prepared for dispatch.  The power for the run to Kings Port and West Mill, a GP40/U33C/U28C consist, can be seen in the background.

VKW-3 leaves Selkirk!

Selkirk crews later assemble a transfer run to Mechanicville that includes the three B&M cars which are heading to their home turf,

...along with the Swift reefer which is being returned empty to the Swift Company in Lawrence, Mass., BAR boxcar #5226 returning empty to its home road, and  LV boxcar #66396 carrying Presto Lite batteries from Allentown to Irwin Marine Corp. in Lakeport, NH

It later arrives at Mechanicville as train NY-20 with a GP30/F7B consist at the head end.

The cars on NY-20 will be forwarded from here to their destinations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Have a good trip!

Meanwhile its Deja Vu all over again in Kings Port! Here we are again at Ulster Ave. waiting for another train to pass this local railfan hot spot!

VKW-3 from Selkirk arrives at Kings Port to set out cars for the KP&W's Williams Yard and then continues to West Mill.

As cars from VKW-3 are sorted at Williams Yard the TOFCs are set out at the unloading platform.

The now overly powered VKW-3 later arrives at West Mill!

The dust settles for a while at West Mill but not for long as WV-2 from Weehawken to Selkirk arrives with cars forwarded from Neal's APRR. Today's WV-2 is led by an unusual GP38/F7B/FP7 lashup.

The train is bringing in four PCCM cars including these three Penn Central RBLs loaded with crates from Mike's Lumber for IBM. Not pictured behind the RBLs is a red TPFX #5510 (Triangle Pacific) boxcar also from Mike's Lumber which is being returned empty.

...and this Morton Salt covered hopper loaded with salt for Cavendish Foods.   A crewman is about to cut the five cars off of WV-2 to set them out here at West Mill.

The cars are set out at West Mill...

...and the WV-2 continues on its way to Selkirk.

All of the cars from the APRR and the N.Y.C.T.L scheduled for this series have arrived on the Kings Port Division!

Come back tomorrow as the Penn Central's West Mill Yard and the KP&W's William Yard crews begin the task of forwarding all of these cars to their consignees!

The KPD power desk was on their 'A' game today!!! Great job with the power consists!!! Kudos again to the KPD dispatcher for his handing the heavy PCCM freight traffic over the River Line. A lot of tonnage rolled thru West Mill and Kings Port. Ulster Ave was once again the place to be!! A very enjoyable episode that showcased great train movements and modeling!!!
